It's commonly shoplifted because its cost-to-weigh ratio is so high. Batteries for much the same reason.

It's not stolen for personal use, but resale - it's like a currency for black markets, much the way various commodities were before paper money was adopted. With all of the governmental social programs and private charitable organizations concentrating on infant nutrition, nobody's stealing formula because baby is hungry.

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, that was a joke. I assume the 'or whatever' conveyed that. Sadly, I bet a few people actually DO think like that. Satire is dead.

That's a pretty big unsupported statement. You of all people should not have faith that social programs are always enough.

I agree.

I agree there are definitely people stealing formula to make money but there are definitely people stealing because baby is hungry. There is a reason you will find formula in charities donations and giveaways.

My brother with his first wife struggled when it came to formula. Reasons why, and that whole situation I could write a book about it.

Those cans don't last long.
I got nothing to say here.

Despite WIC vouchers, SNAP, and the various charities, and the formula manufacturers providing free samples to doctors and hospitals for distribution? You really think people are stealing the formula to feed to their kids?

I believe so as well there are people that unfortunately fall through the cracks on Snap and other programs (i.e they got laid off but their last paycheck said they made too much money).

Pretty much. I mean let's not act like no one is stealing it. Let's not act like only handful are doing it either or alot.

The fact that it gets stolen for people to sell kinda shows the situation anyway. There has to be a market for it.

Oh, there is... which is why there are extensive resources available for people who can't afford it.
