Oooh I thought Dune wasn't until 2024. Cool!

No release date. Last thing I heard is that the book is going to be huge. Bigger than the previous books. I think he said there is about 750 pages left to be written.clearspira wrote: ↑Tue Jan 03, 2023 2:08 pmHas it actually been confirmed with a release date or does it still have a ''nearly done, not long now, when its ready, putting the finishing touches to'' status? If its the latter then I am afraid you will be sorely disappointed.McAvoy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 4:53 am Song of Ice and Fire. I can only hope that it's gets released presumably for Christmas this year.
This is the sort of book where I shut down everything, stock up on cheese and other finger edibles and read the book from front to cover with little to no care of sleeping. Then reread it again but slowly the second time.
After all of this time I don't know why he doesn't just bundle a stack of notes to a ghostwriter and be done with it. Instant money - what does he have to lose?
Which is like four pages a day if he turns it in by June for editing, revisions and printing.
The more I think about it, probably won't be released in 2023.
I got nothing to say here.

What I find so fascinating about this film is that it's not the only Dracula film coming out this year as we'll be getting another one later this year called The Last Voyage of Demeter.ProfessorDetective wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 3:52 am Oh, add one more: Renfield. Nic Cage is playing a Vampire again.

What I find so interesting about both these films is that instead of either one being a straight up adaptation they're both instead focusing on a single part of the Dracula Lore AND both are focusing on lesser talked about elements of said Lore.
Renflied is really only known as " That henchmen who eats bugs" and The Demeter is usually forgotten and left out of most adaptations. I like the idea of exploring these two points and getting their own movies. The Last Voyage of Demeter in particular sounds like it would make a great 10 Little Indians plot in the same vain as Alien or Predator or even better The Thing.
We have a crew, in the middle of the sea with no way to call for help and a supernatural monster that can take on the form of wolves, bats, fog and in some adaptations other people AND has the power to basically Jedi Mindtrick people. This could be AMAZING!!!

I still haven't seen a film version of Dracula based on the book. It's always the play.

Well, you're not really getting that big of a difference as no adapation has really been able to capture what made the book work. Long story short Dracula is a Victorian version of a found footage movie that's told more like a series of stories. There's honestly an idea, tell the story of Dracula as a found footage miniseries. Well on online FF Series.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2023 9:01 am I still haven't seen a film version of Dracula based on the book. It's always the play.
It's an angle we've never seen and it would be weirdly loyal to the book.

Or if it's modernized give everyone their own wildly unpopular vlog that basically only Mina watches.Winter wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2023 9:57 amWell, you're not really getting that big of a difference as no adapation has really been able to capture what made the book work. Four pages a day is VERY hopeful when it comes to this sloth of a man. Look, I don't want to be needlessly mean, he is old and unfit so maybe he literally can't sit in front of a word processor for very long and if so that is sad. But Jesus, he's been writing this series since 1991. For reference, JK Rowling started Harry Potter in 1997 and she managed to churn out seven books by 2007 - the last four being the size of house bricks.McAvoy wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2023 4:43 amNo release date. He strikes me as a man who absolutely does not want to write this book and is just trying to keep up pretences so he doesn't have to deal with a load of crap from fanboys (I am not including you in that).

I think he lost interest in the main story years ago and has been putting all his time into the backstory stuff.
