There is this whole thing with the DragonBall community that Goku is a horrible father.clearspira wrote: ↑Fri Apr 08, 2022 10:07 pmThe irony is that Goku isn't really someone that you want to look up to. Sure, he isn't a cruel person, he happily gave his ice cream to his granddaughter when she dropped hers as an example. But he is also fiercely selfish in the pursuit of becoming the strongest man in the universe and has proven consistently that he is willing to become an absent husband and father in the pursuit of that goal as well as putting his friends and family in active danger in the process. (Giving Cell a Senzu so that he can beat the shit out of his son anyone?)BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Fri Apr 08, 2022 6:21 pmWell if you feel that Goku represents you in your moral prerogative, then what are you thinking all the villains of Dragon Ball are supposed to represent? Your own personal demons? The whole point of the show is that the landscape lacks moral gravity, in which case you have people fighting on one side and the other.Dragon Ball Fan wrote: ↑Sun Mar 27, 2022 5:37 amOkay, I shouldn't have acted that way but I just couldn't understand why some people are okay with this behavior, when I literally have muscle spasms whenever I think something similar, I legitimately cannot empathize with whistling death on, nor hating someone.McAvoy wrote: ↑Sun Mar 27, 2022 4:15 amI once had a prolonged stint where I debated and even trolled vegans on YouTube ten years ago. I mean he literal made this thread as an apology for this kind of behavior and has burn off even the tiny tiniest amount of good will that got him. Have you ever decided just to ignore anything political, or to get someone to put parental locks if you can't grow up DBF.
As in using language like 'I for one don't eat diseased maggot infested flesh like a dog nor do I drink pus filled milk right out of a babies mouth nor do I rape them to get that milk.'
I grew out of it or got bored with it. The point is I never took these guys serious, and never felt that vegans should be better because of those bad apples.
The fact that am making a jackass out of myself in this way is driving me just as crazy as those hatful comments.
Does Goku just argue about how he can't comprehend what Vegeta and Nappa are doing?
DragonBall Super reinforced that. Though it seems they were looking at DragonBall Abridged than the real show for his characterization.
Look at Z as a whole. First five years he was with Gohan 24/7. Then he got killed and had to train in thd afterlife to fight the Saiyans. A severe threat. Then he was badly wounded where he couldn't go to Namek. He later got a sensu bean and then immediately traveled there. Got beat up again, went SSJ, took down Freiza. Nearly killed on Namek exploding.
Him not coming back when they tried wishing him back is his first time where you could say he was an absentee father.
He comes back, has to train for three years to take on a couple of androids who destroyed the future. He is training with Gohan and Piccolo the entire time.
He gets his heart virus, is out for a few days. Takes Gohan for a whole year to train.
Sure he gave Cell a sensu bean. You could make arguments why he did that. He did realize his mistake when Gohan wasn't really fighting like Goku thought he should.
Goku dies again, stays dead for seven years. Not really being absent because he is dead. He comes back for a day originally to see family and friends and fight some.
Buu happens. He alive again and stays alive. End of DBZ, it seems like he was there the entire time.
That is Goku as a father. Only once where Goku should have came home and that was after Freiza saga. Other times he was dead or sick.
