Honestly I think characterizing this as “sucking up to Trump” manages to do Zuck too much credit.
I think he resented having to implement fact checking and community standards in the first place, and is seizing the opportunity to do away with them since there’s nobody in his home country that’ll drag him before congressional hearings about it anymore.
Which is pretty damning when you remember that Facebook was originally put under a microscope because they probably were a key factor in a fucking genocide.
What did Elon Musk do this time.

Well, he does have that big FTC case about Facebook breaking anti-monopoly laws that he really needs someone to kill.CmdrKing wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 6:18 pm Honestly I think characterizing this as “sucking up to Trump” manages to do Zuck too much credit.

So now Musk is so mad at Asmogold for calling him out on the POE2 thing that he tried to attack him by revealing... that he employs an editor.
Not really sure what was going for there.

Stupid is, as stupid does. Musk is divorced from reality and the way I percieve this is, that he literally thought of a newspaper-editor, when the Assmongol talked about checking back with his editors. This is very obvious in the "doxxed" message in question ("Who is this mysterious editor?"). The guy is just a retard who's completely out of touch with what he wants to cosplay as. Think Steve Buscemi as a skateboarding high-schooler.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 7:31 pm So now Musk is so mad at Asmogold for calling him out on the POE2 thing that he tried to attack him by revealing... that he employs an editor.

Elon just straight-up giving a Nazi salute at the inauguration. Then did it again in case anyone missed it.

There was a time when I thought it was rather over-reactionary to say that the 1930s have returned. But what do you say to that image? The richest man in the world giving a Nazi salute at the inauguration for the President of the United States. I feel so, so sorry for those of the Greatest Generation who didn't vote for Trump. What must they be thinking seeing this?

The fandboys are already falling over themselves to try to gaslight us that it didn't happen or that it was some other gesture that got misinterpreted. Including the ADL, which I wish I was surprised by.

The most common excuse I've heard so far was that it was a Roman salute of all things. Well...hammerofglass wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 7:36 am The fandboys are already falling over themselves to try to gaslight us that it didn't happen or that it was some other gesture that got misinterpreted. A) The slave-dealing, imperialistic Romans weren't that much better than the Nazis were so i'm not sure that is much of a defence even if it was true.
B) A simple Google search reveals that there is absolutely no evidence at all that the actual Romans ever performed it. It can actually be traced back to an 18th century painting and gained popularity in the 19th and 20th century where it became - surprise - a symbol of fascism.

It's honestly kind of impressive in a terrifying way how unanimously the mainstream press united to tell us that wasn't what it obviously was and we shouldn't trust our own lying eyes.
