I cut the cable years ago, but if it comes out on Netflix or Hulu I'll at least give it a try. There are plenty of cartoons for kids (though not always exclusively for kids) that I enjoy, but Nicktoons tend to be a bit young for me.
Still, how bad could it be? "Next Gen Babies?" The wacky misadventures of Data and Geordi LaForge, accompanied by their magical talking cat Spot? Crossovers with Spongebob?
It's interesting that they're shopping it outside CBS All Access and the main CBS channel.

Re: ‘Star Trek’: Nickelodeon Near Deal For Kids Animated Series
I have no opinion about Teen Titans one way or the other because I haven't watched either show. What I have in mind are people screeching that I can't criticize, for example, The Last Jedi, because "it's about space wizards with laser swords" or other such drivel. Remember, the "aimed at kids" defense was used for the prequels, for all the sense that made (bet the kiddies enjoyed the hell out of those space politics). And I can see the same happening if this new animated series turns out to be crap.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 7:30 am Teen Titans Go was what was coming to mind for me.
And yeah I no want make fun. Aimed at the defense specifically, I get it, seems fine. Just personally the show itself I'm not putting as much stake into it for said reasons, not sure if anybody here really disagrees with that notion. And I want to say I don't really have the time to worry about the people defending it, but actually I can't really imagine people saying that too seriously, so I just dunno.
This site in particular largely weighs episodes within canon and is largely about this kind of stuff. I don't have a problem speculating on this kind of stuff seriously even if it's kids shows (that includes videos like Maler's 5-hour angry youtube rant :p that Patrick Willems no want watch).
ETA: Also, the fact the producers made a point of bringing that up almost makes me wonder if they themselves think they can slack off because of it. You know, "it's for kids, and they won't notice if it sucks or makes sense" kind of attitude.

I feel like people can talk about why they enjoy a movie, even with respect to canon, even though it has potentially legitimate inconsistencies brought up by anyone else. And not just about enjoying it, but value or merit they find in the end product. I don't think Patrick Willems is setting out to set the definitive view on The Last Jedi straight, he's not putting a challenge for someone to prove him wrong nor trying to tell fandrom-critics that they're wrong. There's appreciable ideas set forth by the movie and the execution isn't totally contemptible. I'm getting a bit carried away, but I'm just saying there's room for both viewpoints. He's a bit cavalier, but that also plays into his character a bit coming off as a hipster producer (movie producer, not YT).Admiral X wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 10:01 amI have no opinion about Teen Titans one way or the other because I haven't watched either show. So, it's basically SPACE CASES, which aired on Nick during the 90s.pilight wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2019 10:48 pm https://deadline.com/2019/04/star-trek- ... 202601107/

Hope it turns out better for them than the Valiant!
As a kid's show premise, this ain't too bad.

Hhm, this could be decent. Having heard good things from Nick's TMNT shows and that Ladybug superhero show from France, I have some hope.
And hearing it's a show for the younger sect is a GREEN flag for me. The bulk of the shows that have tried to aim high (Steven Universe, Tangled: The Series, the last few seasons of My Little Pony) go the Dark & Edgy, Game of Thrones Babies, route and miss the mark by a LIGHTYEAR.
For reference: I have seen both Teen Titans and TTG and while I find the former superior, I do NOT find the later to be the Spawn of Trigon- I mean, Satan. It ain't high art, but not every show needs to be. Plus TTG introducing me to this song gives it an automatic 5/10.

First, Nickelodeon has made "serious" animation before. The two Avatar shows are an exemple of that. Second, Star Wars has had a great success with its animated series. Both Clone Wars and Rebels have been a success, and Resistance's first season was great, auguring an even better second season. It is just logical that CBS tries to produce an animated series too. The tone will probably be similar to Star Wars shows. It will begin with a lighter season aimed at 8-10 years old kids, with enough serious matter to hook up their fathers, and then it will grow up with them.
