Based on how they are in charge of the Left at the moment there is plenty of room for pejorative.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 8:30 am

He's not wrong given the front that the Captain Marvel team is putting up for their movie vs the lack of virtue signalling from the Alita team. Of course Alita is actually a pretty decent movie, too, so it's worth watching anyway.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 4:24 am So James Woods tweeted that you should see Alita instead of Cap. The problem with coining a non-specific buzzword to describe something about a movement is that it makes it really easy for those who disagree with it to assign their own meaning to the word and use it however they see fit.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 8:30 am Just curious, you know that woke just basically means aware of social issues, right? Yeah, it's kind of a buzzword for praise. But I mean I just don't see anything detractful in what it describes. I guess I could see someone using it ironically, but that wasn't really the case here.Zoinksberg wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 6:56 pmThe problem with coining a non-specific buzzword to describe something about a movement is that it makes it really easy for those who disagree with it to assign their own meaning to the word and use it however they see fit.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 8:30 am Just curious, you know that woke just basically means aware of social issues, right?
