You wouldn't even need to watch the latest episode to guess that there was probably more to the scene than first meets the eye, but that would require someone to disrupt their youtube career of making bad-faith hour long rants.
So many people constantly accusing Discovery of not being thought-out are apparently also unwilling to go for anything outside of surface-level reads of the material in question.

Star Trek was ever more than surface level?MixedDrops wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2019 7:39 am You wouldn't even need to watch the latest episode to guess that there was probably more to the scene than first meets the eye, but that would require someone to disrupt their youtube career of making bad-faith hour long rants.

Re: Sta Trek Discovery season 2 megathread
Well, YMMV I guess, but I was more saying taking every single thing at face value so they can crap on the show is dishonest. To be clear, if you want to pick out the many, many flaws Discovery has to crap on it, then have at it.
But complaining about that scene in Discovery where Spock punches some dudes would be something like...I dunno, stopping halfway through the TOS episode "Court Martial", and proceeding to make a bunch of videos talking about how shit the episode is because the recording of Kirk ejecting the Pod on purpose was too out of character for him.

Spoilers obviously (but I guess that this thread)- don't think we have spoilers tags on this board?
Anyway, it was faked. I mean, I'm not saying that's some kind of super "whoa you blew my mind" revelation, but that's my point. Was it really hard to think of "someone must be setting Spock up, like half the freaking characters are saying"? Ignoring that to crap on the show just makes someone look foolish, all the while trying to make a point about the show being brainless.

I mean, giving the Klingons twin junk? It really feels like they're just grafting their own fanfiction onto the show at this point. We even got a Mary Sue as the lead!

Last episode was nice. It seems to me that they have triggered the events they feared (the end of all sentient lifeforms in the galaxy) by capturing the Red Angel. Airiam said that Burnham would discover Project Daedalus and that it is all be because of her.

It was obvious from Day 1 that Spock was framed for murder, yet so many of DISCO's hate-watching YouTubers whined about the show turning him into a murderer without even suspecting he was being set up. The YouTuber Major Grin (who made the video posted on the previous page) always posts videos that paint DISCO in a negative light or just pointing out inconsistencies where none were, like the idea of no holographic simulations existing in the 23rd century because that's what Harry Kim said in one episode, despite TAS featuring such a thing on the Enterprise (which was originally conceived by Gene for the third season).MixedDrops wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2019 9:18 am Spoilers obviously (but I guess that this thread)- don't think we have spoilers tags on this board?

So Anson Mount (Pike) and Rebecca Romijn (Number One) aren't returning for season 3 (they were intended only for season 2). I think Mount's performance was well-received, but from my understanding Romijn was underused (I may be out of date or simply flat-out wrong about that).

Which is not surprising to me. I've greatly enjoyed Mount's Pike, but knew that he was always just going to be the guest captain of the season. Romijn was introduced in only one episode so far, but I understanding is she doesn't really play into things until towards the end of the season.
I look forward to who will take over the chair for the third season. I have a strong feeling Saru, now with his newly found confidence and assertiveness, will be sitting in the captain's chair with Michael as his first officer.
