One question I have if anyone cares to speculate, if tests have been developed in say South Korea, which have been effective in the effort to curb the spread, how the hell do we still not have any plan put forth to mass produce them? Is it an IP? Didn't some part of the economy that slowed down have some means of just making some huge revenue off this thing?

AFAIK reliable testing requires scrutinisation of samples in a lab by someone trained to know what they're looking for, which isn't something that can be increased quickly.

Note the "AFAIK" - I'm not massively confident in my answer. I'm fairly confident efforts are being made to develop quicker and easier tests but there seems to be loads of conflicting information going around as to the state of them.

The problem is that there have always been gullible idiots. Anyone who has read Plato or Socrates knows that we have been dealing with the same problems for at least 3000 years - they just come in different forms now. There is no difference ultimately between an idiot shouting his bullshit in the middle of the town square in Athens and an idiot shouting his bullshit on Twitter with the exception that the latter now has access to millions of idiots as opposed to just those passing by.

Death of the Expert is not new either. 3000 years ago idiots used ''Zeus'' and as a counter-argument, now idiots use some echo-chamber website that they have found. Humans, ultimately, are mostly moronic in the grand scheme of things. Most of our biggest achievements were attained by a very small selection of scientists and still continue to be - with the rest of us just there to either do the grunt work or to use their achievements without really understanding them. And yes, I include myself in that. There is a reason why I am on this forum prattling away instead of working on the manned Mars shot - just as there is a reason why 99% of you here are doing the exact same thing right alongside me.

Boris Johnson is in hospital as a precautionary measure. He made a video address a couple of days ago so he isn't dying or anything, but he does still have a high temp. May his recovery be swift so that he can give Covid-19 a hammering and bring us the Brexit that Europe deserves.

Her Majesty also made a fantastic address to the nation tonight. That is why we still have a queen. She brings the country together in times of shit.
