It sucks, but we had no business being there and it’s really not our concern. It’s terrible, but what else can we do? We’re not a world police, and we shouldn’t act like it. One of our top allies is Saudi Arabia, why aren’t we telling them how to handle women’s rights? Because it’s none of our business.
The only good thing to come out of this is the end of our presence there. So we’re at least no longer spending money on a fake government that didn’t believe in itself and more importantly we’re no longer seeing our countrymen die for a dubious cause. It’s been too long. There were soldiers recently serving there who’s fathers also served in Afghanistan back in the 2000s. That’s RIDICULOUS. Now that it’s over with, let’s move on and only deal with any ramifications that has a notable impact on us.

Re: The Afghan War isn't over yet, Mr President
I just found some sources that's been confirmed that Donald Trump actually made a deal with the Taliban to withdraw Troops from Afghanistan in May but Biden extended it to September.

Yeah there is alot of evidence verbally and written that shows Trump was planning (or it was part of his presidential campaign) to pull out of Afghanistan. Yet we got the far right being stupid right now in blaming Biden for all of this.BBally81 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 1:30 am I just found some sources that's been confirmed that Donald Trump actually made a deal with the Taliban to withdraw Troops from Afghanistan in May but Biden extended it to September.

Kneejerk reactions with party lines mixed in is always fun.
I got nothing to say here.

I talked to my mother about whats going on with the Afghan war, she said it sounds exactly like what happened with the Vietnam war (she was a child during that timeframe)

Okay. America lost the war. I already said that the war was lost years ago and we were too stubborn to admit it. Agreeing with you there.clearspira wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 10:09 pmI did address your question by addressing America's hypocrisy. But at least you're honest. America has always been in love with trying to perpetuate a self-image of being the world hero. It seems that you guys are starting to reject your own propaganda and that is a good thing. Millennials and Gen Z are far less eager to open wide and swallow their respective government's bullshit as those before us were.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 9:07 pmGreat. Or do you think if we'd just stuck in there another year we'd somehow turn this around and declare victory?
So let me ask you this: What is the difference between that and keeping a force of 4,500 in Afghanistan (as of Jan 2021) to make sure that the Taliban leave Afghanistan alone? How is one just right and the other too long despite the former being 50 years longer?
You still haven't addressed my question, much less answered it.
But remember this well because I intend to repeat myself in a few years time when the War on Terror returns to its 2001 peak: regardless of the rights or wrongs of leaving Afghanistan, the West lost. America lost. The UK lost. The Coalition lost. This is a second Saigon and it will only empower our enemies.
What I don't understand is what your point is, what you would prefer the USA do differently, or why you are so angry at Joe Biden. I mean, yeah there's lots of reasons to be angry at Joe Biden, but why in this particular topic?
What are you getting at exactly? That the war was bad? That it is lost? That any attempt to save face and pretend we won is pathetic and transparent?

Clearspira simply hates the left. That's all there is to it.

That is a well-known fact. Trump made the deal and Biden decided to follow through on it. At the end of the day, it's everyone's fault.BBally81 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 1:30 am I just found some sources that's been confirmed that Donald Trump actually made a deal with the Taliban to withdraw Troops from Afghanistan in May but Biden extended it to September.

There is no reason to be mad at Biden about this. It was going to be no different if Trump did it, or some president in 2025 or 2029 that did it.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 3:35 amOkay. America lost the war. Not like the next year or 8 years would really change the situation in Afghanistan.
At best, benefit of hindsight we woukd have taken all of the equipment and weapons and let the Afghanistan deserters still desert. But that is benefit of hindsight.
I got nothing to say here.

It's everyone's fault but mostly Bush Junior's fault.cilantro wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 4:17 amThat is a well-known fact. Trump made the deal and Biden decided to follow through on it.
