That's idiotic, and undercuts a great deal of the drama.

Well it is.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 3:35 pmJust to continue the theme: a different Rebels episode had a gag where clone ARC Trooper Rex was just as bad a shot as a stormtrooper when disguised as one because their helmet is so badly designed that he literally couldn't see well enough to aim.stryke wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 1:37 pmGuessing that scene in the last episode of season 1 of Mando must have driven you spare. It's not something that I care much one way or another, but man even I was seriously rolling my eyes at the scene of the scout troopers failing to shoot a target close by them. Yes, yes, I see what you did there. Very droll.MithrandirOlorin wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 1:21 pm Yeah this Cnaonizing of alleged Stormtrooper incompetency annoys me. Both famous scenes of them not hitting their target in the OT exist in a context where we know they were either actually letting the heroes get away or were not shooting to kill. During a real battle on Endor they hit their targets just fine.
Luke saying he can't see anything wasn't scripted. That was Mark saying that.
So there you go.
I got nothing to say here.

Eh, they're 1hp minions. There isn't meant to be drama from them, only named villains are a serious threat. It's a holdover from the series' western/samurai movie roots.Frustration wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 4:43 pm That's idiotic, and undercuts a great deal of the drama.
Ironically the comedy scout troopers from the Mandolorian already mentioned are, afaik, the only ones to actually kill a major character in any Star Wars media.

Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+
Okay, I have predictions for the show's ending.
1. In the first episode the stops for a minute to focus on the asshole boss on that place Ben was working, and it reminded me of the Diner from Superman II. I think at the end Ben will back and stick it to that boss somehow.
2. Since it's been informally canonized that Ben used Force healing Luke in A New Hope, I think in the last episode Qui-Gon's Force Ghost will teach it Ben in order to save someone.
3. Vader will tell Obi-Wan the Tragedy of Darth Plageuis The Wise.

Seqson 2 prediction: the Inquisitors send Cad Bane after Obi-Wan. Hey, Disney paid for the outfit already might as well use it.

I like how this series really leans into Vader being a showboating drama queen that does stupid shit just for the effect. It's been part of the character since the OT so it's nothing new, I just think it's fun.
Case in point, everything that happened between him and Reva at the end of episode 5. Bravo you theatrical psychopath.

I am honestly trying to remember if he did this in other scenes. He didn't do it in Return of the Jedi. A New Hope the only scene that may count is when he Force choked that one officer.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Thu Jun 16, 2022 12:17 pmHe was like that constantly in Empire.clearspira wrote: ↑Thu Jun 16, 2022 8:35 amSince the OT, but not in the OT.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Wed Jun 15, 2022 1:35 pm I like how this series really leans into Vader being a showboating drama queen that does stupid shit just for the effect. Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+
One thing about the series is the need to hire actors/stunt doubles/whoever that matches David Powse physique. In this series, Vader seems off. Like his neck is shortened.
Like in the previous episode they showed Third Sister and Vader from a distance and while he is taller, not by much. Then the close up and he towers over Third Sister, who should be still standing.
I am also assuming they are using the same technology to recreate Vader's voice as they did for Luke in Boba Fett.
