The great 2020 election thread....
Re: The great 2020 election thread....
Sure would be nice if the nominating conventions for both parties weren't just rubber stamp shows this year and were an actual selection convention like they used to be. Could be a way of turning some of this shit around this year.

When? 60 Years ago there were basically no primaries and smoke-filled rooms decided who the nominee was. Now the system is simply so screwed up momentum results in one nominee emerging real fast. A president who sought the nomination hasn't ever failed to receive it (though nomination fights have torpedoed generals). The probable solution is probably reforming the system to have ranked ballots held everywhere all at once.

No I'm with Robovski on this one. Yes, there was a time when the party machine totally controlled nominees, but a lot has changed since then and I'd prefer to not go back to those times even halfway.

You failed to get my point. Let me clarify.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 12:05 amSo you heard this from some random people at your work place. I'm just not sure how that is supposed to be important with regard to Biden and the Democrats, especially considering they've never said that the world will end in that time frame.Captain Crimson wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 10:50 pmI am not. Young students are coming into my workplace through the school program. And you know what? People talk. About anything, everything. And during the course of these natural human conversations, politics will somehow come up. And for these young students, many of them have been so convinced by the alarmist media and the fearmongering left the world only has ten years left before the human race goes extinct, that it's stressed them out and a few I've talked to have even had nightmares over it. This is irresponsible. This is the next generation paying the price for our mistakes. And they don't deserve it. At all.

Irresponsible by who? The broadness of the bipartisan landscape is a difference of tidal gravity and you're essentially just talking about waves that break on shore.Captain Crimson wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 4:52 pmYou failed to get my point. To confess, I may be a bit... out of the loop on this one. Since I don't watch cable news. Or follow online news. I just know what I'm seeing coming from the kids I work around. And it's disgusting. You got democrats and republicans locked into two sides, and both hate each other so much, they believe they're going to destroy the world, that all they can see is each other and no one else. It reminds me about what's been said in B5 slightly modified. They're consumed with each other's [defeat] until that is all they can see and all they deserve.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 5:00 pmIrresponsible by who? So on what basis do you compare this to Trump and the Republicans? If you're just talking about something you have no critical grasp on, then where are you coming off saying that Trump is no worse?Captain Crimson wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 5:06 pmTo confess, I may be a bit... out of the loop on this one. Hypocrisy is the bread and butter of American politics now. Mr. 45 is just the loudest and most obvious hypocrite of them all, which is why I think his supporters adore him so much. That he drives most news outlets crazy is also a bonus. No, I don't believe the GOP has responsible climate policies, and the DNC does. But their methods are divorcing them from their cause when on our level, at the individual street blocks, they're terrifying the next generation. It's not just climate change. It's all these riots, and a new shooting practically every day.
I met a zoomer who told me she was thinking about how great it'd be if she had never been born after a practice drill on what to do during a shooting. It was heartbreaking. And this is not a matter of how the GOP is pure evil. The democrats are stoking the flames of outrage in their own way. It has to stop. Where do we draw the line?

Actually a more active concern is specifically an agenda for Climate Change activism overall. The actual data that's coming off more as a macguffin in your story gives a lot of cause for concern and alarm is reasonably priced on the menu as well.Captain Crimson wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 5:27 pm

Again, my point here is that this is a rational concern that's being exhibited. If you're talking about irresponsibility, then your concerns leave some more balance to be desired.
I'm not sure if you're using the shooting drills as a metaphor, because I'm fairly certain there's bipartisan support on those drills. As far as being a metaphor, I don't see how the Republicans' appalling climate policies is balanced by people that got misinformation from a completely unknown source in your personal account.I met a zoomer who told me she was thinking about how great it'd be if she had never been born after a practice drill on what to do during a shooting.
