You can only really look at such things after the fact. Right now, it's guestimations.

I wish we didn't have a president doing everything in his power to spread this virus. I wish we didn't have the leader of this country, along with his VP, his press secretary, and everyone else trying to toady up to him, spewing their plague-germs with unmasked faces while other people are genuinely making an effort to flatten the damn curve.

I wish Governor Cuomo didn't force retirement homes to take in infected people.
I think NY still accounts for around 1/3 of all coronavirus fatalities.
But nobody is holding Cuomo's feet over the fire.

NY accounts for about 1/4 of COVID-19 deaths nationwide. The US accounts for about 1/4 globally.

Well who thought we were done with Covid in the first place?? We've steadily been watching numbers go up, and this yahoo is going to direct his title at me and say, "you probably thought this whole thing is over, yeah? boy have I got some news for you." It's like no shit they're lifting restrictions with no advancements actually made for protection and rates are steadily going back up. Not sure what I was missing.

Yeah, at least I'm sticking to the self-quarantine for my family. My little siblings hate it, but you know, what can you do? I'd love to hit the beaches, but alas, cannot do that. People gotta consider that they could be carriers to the virus. We are just so woefully underequipped to deal with something like this, not just with infrastructure, but culturally, psychologically, emotionally, and all that. We're spoiled.

If any country is going to take evolution to the max and make sitting all day a biologically sustainable activity it's the US.

Eh, eventually China is going to use WMD chem-bombs to conquer the US steel and uranium supplies and force USA to retaliate with bio-weapons the makes C-19 look like a simple flu virus. Not saying of China wanting to be evil, but the world is filled with enough predictability that human annihilation or self-slavery via incompetence will happen.

Global warming and nuclear war might be old hat, but don't count them out. They're oldies but goodies. We don't need fancy new weapons and catastrophes, our old ones will kill us just fine.

Rewatching B5, I was struck by how shockingly timeless Confessions and Lamentations was to the modern era. I mean... we even had the Markab ambassador try and redirect the blame back onto the human crew, that they were just trying to stir up dissent and divide their people, which is exactly how China is spinning this. My God, we really haven't improved at all in the last thirty, last fifty, last hundred years at all, have we? Puts me in mind of two quotes from Dr. Franklin.

"It's going to take more than a hundred years to evolve a better human."

And also:

"Nothing changes."

The last one? Just chilling...
