well since syfy is a cable network they do not actually have to adhere to fcc broadcast standards, however it is good practice for them to do so. they have loosed the chains a bit because Avasarala is Queen Profane Bitch and I love every minute of it. Profanity is a key weapon in her arsenel. it unsettles whomever she is dealing with.

In the books we get introduced to avasaralla in the 2nd one and the bobby avasaralla arc is completely different. and as far as i remember erinwright does not exist in the first or second books but avasralla is still the shadow master.

I was also kinda looking forward to seeing the roci sterilizing the surface of gany with her torch drive but this works too i suppose

I agree. Avasaralla language is part of her character and she has become so fleshed out during season two. My frustrations were with the censoring of the language, not the language itself. I find it very believable that she would use that language because you can see she is building up to it, rather than use it just for the effect. The dialog has definitely gotten better in the second season.

Is the "torch drive" a term for the Epstein Drive? How was the Roci staying aloft when they were hunting for the proto-soldier? Alex said they couldn't light up the main drive without alerting the Martians overhead so was the Roci using thrusters to stay off the ground? I know Ganymede has less gravity than Earth or Mars but I would think the Roci would still be too heavy to keep "flying" on thrusters only.

"Fusion Torch Drive" is the proper term for the theoretical drive we hypothesized a few decades back that closely matches the performance characteristics of the Epstein drives seen in the expanse. According to wikipedia, ganymede has .146 gravity. with a value that low since we can not do practical tests, I am alright with the roci staying afloat on thrusters alone. Further there is a minimum safe distance torch drives can be used when pointed at another object otherwise they exposed to what is essentially a localized coronal mass ejection

Ouch! That could ruin your whole day. :)

Thanks for the clarification.

I did enjoy the season finale, and I am glad Prax is still with the ship as a "doc". I was afraid he was gonna meet his end when he failed to through the thermonuclear device into the air.
Hey, you guys got to see your torched scene from the book! I thought it looked a little low budget CGI when they torched the Proto Sapien with the engines. I wish they would have resolved the Draper/Avasarala plotline a little more, but I imagine they will be crossing paths with the Rosi crew soon. Great little teaser that Naomi gave the hidden Protomolecule to Fred Johnson. That ensures that he will be a player in season 3 even though he was an afterthought in the last half of season 2. Now only ten month or so for season 3!

I like that you called it a "Proto-sapien." I heard that term on another YouTube review show and it sorta stuck with me. This was a really good finale to a really good season. I dunno how I'm gonna stand waiting until next year for another episode of this show.

Yeah, I really want to read the books now....but I am afraid it will just fall into my backlog of books I want to read.

I hear ya. I'm also afraid I might be disappointed when the series doesn't follow the books exactly.

Here is a link to a youtube channel called Spacedock. It has five videos that are based on certain ships of The Expanse. I think he sources the wiki and the books on them, and some of the show. I found them quite interesting.
