Neelix causes another government shutdown because he wants a bigger border wall

When they get in power, party heads make policy in the background. Compromise doesn't happen. (this is how you lost the union vote by the way. they were sold out to mexicans and greens. no compromise there) When policy is actually discussed in the open, the factions fight and the Dems don't get into power anyway so compromise still doesn't happen.
Any fruitful examples of this you might consider most notable?

I mean if you go by the person, I thought Obama did really well discourse. His work on the economy was pretty bold as far as crafted legislation goes.

They are already saying that the current wall prototypes can be breached with hand tools.

Which kinda shows the problem I have with this whole affair. Do we need to make the border secure, of course we do, so why are you wasting your time and money with a wall?

To be fair, a wall isn't meant to stop so much as slow down. There'd have to be plenty of patrols to ensure security, too. Of course, one could argue that the Berlin Wall and the Inner German Border, with all its security, wasn't 100% fool-proof either. Personally, I think it would work better to disincentivize people from coming to begin with through harsh punishments for employers who hire illegal immigrants.

You can also cut through a bank vault with a saw. It just takes time. That's the point.

A bank vault is in a single, fairly centralized location. This will be in the middle of absolutely nowhere and likely unchecked for weeks or even months at a time.

You don't need to tell me boarder patrol needs more resources. I know.

Not so. Most illegal immigrants overstay on their visas or come here via the ocean. Why not increase funding for the Coast Guard? To claim they're storming the border is a damn stereotype.

Yeah, if I was a congressman my position would be something like 'you want $5 billion for border security? I would gladly give you $8 billion if you promise me to spend it on something useful like hiring more personnel or upgrading their equipment, or installing a series of remote sensors along the border.' Any one of those would lead to a more secure border and be more cost effective than a wall.

Hence my problem. We can talk about how important borders are, about immigration issues, but really this isn't about any of those things.
It's about Ego. 45 is used to getting what he wants. He's spoiled and the entire Republican party is supporting his tantrums. He wants the wall and he'll cause as much dysfunction and suffering as he can because his will is being denied.

Don't BS me. It doesn't matter what Trump does, the Dem strategy is to be anti that.
