So, if you've seen that the rosaries and cruxifices were confiscated from immigrants to be thrown out, and that sits okay with you, this thread isn't for you.
If you've heard that press agents are being denied access to immigrant detainment centers, and you're cool with that, this thread isn't for you.
If you know that children as young as four have to represent themselves in immigration court, please hit the back button and find another thread.
If you've decided that asylum-seekers are already criminal suspects so it's okay to treat them as criminals (except for things like due process and presumption of innocence and right to a speedy trial), this thread really isn't for you.
But if these things make you queasy, if you think that something should be done with ICE or even that there is some middle ground, I would like to talk with you.
If you've already accepted locking up brown children as a reasonable price to pay for national safety, I don't really think that anything productive will come from our debate.

Why didn't you just DM Worffan 101 instead of making yet another thread on this?

I'm halfway somewhere between suspecting him to be a chatbot and assuming he is just looking for attention.

Dude, literally everybody knows that the 'tender age centers' are evil. Trump's approval rating crashed when that whole thing hit the news.
Don't dwell on it, you'll just get stressed. Don't forget it, of course. Remember it when you go to vote. But if you dwell on it all you'll do is piss yourself off more.

Personally I'd like there to be more options on the immigration policy spectrum than the "open borders, everyone come!" and "build a wall and make Mexico pay for it" options.
As for these facilities... well, you do have to keep them somewhere, and has been pointed out, you need to confirm they're with actual parents or guardians - it would be rather counter-productive, and inhumane, to turn them over to coyotes who might be sex traffickers or the like - but this whole "ban the press" and "force a child to represent themselves" thing is farcical. Hell, if I were an immigration judge and had a four year old marched into my courtroom without proper representation, I'd vent my spleen at the government for wasting the Court's time, possibly hold a suitable authority at ICE in contempt, and then maybe even grant a summary injunction against deportation just to spite the government.

...that's actually a really good idea. They may not be citizens, but the kids deserve representation. I mean, they're children, goddamn it.Steve wrote: ↑Fri Oct 05, 2018 6:35 am Hell, if I were an immigration judge and had a four year old marched into my courtroom without proper representation, I'd vent my spleen at the government for wasting the Court's time, possibly hold a suitable authority at ICE in contempt, and then maybe even grant a summary injunction against deportation just to spite the government.
It'd also be a great way to launch your campaign for Senate. ;P

Welcome to 2018. The middle ground of the society is in the process of dying, thanks to being caught in the middle of the fight between the extreme right and extreme left.

No, not really. I mean, I keep getting accused of being alt-right in spite of not being a white nationalist and actually holding quite centrist libertarian views, just as an example.
