The Supreme Court on Monday declined to review whether states can block Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers from their Medicaid programs, passing on a pair of cases that would have served as the first major abortion test for the court’s new conservative majority.

Chief Justice John Roberts and the newest justice, Brett Kavanaugh, joined the court's four liberal jurists in turning away a pair of petitions from Kansas and Louisiana seeking the ban on abortion providers.

If you read Thomas' opinion on why the case should be heard, he did not interpret it as being about Abortion, that the issue is proximate but not as entwined as the public might perceive. If that is the case, then maybe they didn't want to make it about Abortion.

They may be waiting for a case that is more open to interpretations on the topic of abortion, and they won't have to wait long.

Well it is weird though that this seems like a topical battle frontline for conservatives against abortion. That being the concern of tax dollars funding abortions.

I think in general Americans believe the judiciary to be far more political than it actually is. That goes double for the Supreme Court - that whole 'lifetime appointment' thing means you're accountable to nobody once you're in.
