No shock to me.

Not surprising given how Bi erasure is still so prominent.

I read an article by a bi man once giving his take on the very unfortunate middle ground many bisexuals occupy: to bigot heterosexuals you are just another gay, and to homosexuals you are a closet heterosexual who can't make up his mind.

Another one I read by a bi woman this time reckoned that people automatically assume you to be a slut that is up for mixed sex threesomes and orgies. She also thought that partners of both sexes got jealous and insecure quite quickly as they felt they were competing with the entire human race for your affections as opposed to merely half of it.

I don't know how true this is but I can certainly see how it would be.

We still need a strong discussion on gender issues going forward, because it's such a fundamental part of us that's been bred into our DNA, multiply and avoid death, that really, we've only covered a fraction of what gender and indeed, overall identity really is.

There is no mystery to what gender and sexuality is though. Its actually a very simple concept. Men need to be men and women need to be women in order to make babies. Anything else in large amounts would run the risk of lowering the birth rate.

Human beings however have intelligence. We have moved on from being animals based on instinct; that is why we can choose to live and feel and do whatever the hell we want.

That's biology. It influences gender and gender identity, but to what extent we are beholden to it is not certain. No, I'm not certain if I believe in more than two genders (or at the very least, just a few, if we're being generous), but I also don't think gender and sex are the same thing and are mutually interchangeable.

Pretty close. Any bi woman on a dating site will be drowned by solicitations for threesomes from straight couples. These usually consist of a not-bad-looking punkish woman and a man who looks like somebody infused hipster DNA into a cartoon representation of toe fungus.

What I've encountered more, as a bi man, is both straight people and gay people dismissing you as a just gay with one foot in the closest. Bi women are often assumed to be straight girls experimenting.

Heck, I've seen old interview footage where a woman asks David Bowie about his sexuality, he says he's already made it clear he's bisexual, and she says "but is that really what you mean?" and keeps pressing on as if he hasn't answered the question. =/

Sadly, I'm not surprised.

That's an impressive description.

Two of my best friends are bi (and ironically dating each other), the female one has told me before that she's had bad experiences with people trying to pigeonhole her as straight or gay, so anecdotally there's evidence for erasure still being a major problem.
