No cause of death given but apparently he was born with only one kidney which has had to be transplanted at least once, poor guy. His life was always going to be short.

I always liked the character of Nog as he personifies Star Trek at his best: a guy from a race of people known for greed, sexism and theft, with a criminal for an uncle, a failure of a father (at the time), deciding that he wants to better himself and through it becomes an explorer and war hero. The amputation storyline was very real and again shows how Trek can do ''dark'' well.
Modern Trek can only dream of having a character like Nog.

That's sad to learn. May he rest in peace.

Jesus Christ... this is so sad.

"Mr. Nog, we salute you, and the honor you brought to the uniform, and your outstanding record of service. You will be missed."

Imagine this in Avery Brooks' voice, and it becomes ten times as awesome.

Sucks that he's gone. Aside from playing Nog he was also in one of my favorite Tales from the Crypt episodes.

F. F. F. Thanks to DS9 not treating side characters like dirt, we all grew to appreciate Nog as more than a one-off sidekick. You got plenty of time to see the charm of the actor under the goop.

Wheeling around the station to earn FIVE BARS of gold-pressed latinum would have to be my favourite Nog episode, followed by Nog joining Starfleet.
