Re: Romney taking on Trump
What can Romney bring to the table that Trump doesn't? I can't see Romney standing a chance.

Re: Romney taking on Trump
When Romney ran for President back in 2012 the worst thing I could say about him character wise was that he was hopelessly out of touch.
That being said, he walked the walk.
Where as Republicans mostly use religion as an excuse to oppress women and be jingoistic... Romney didn't do that. He pointed to his religious convictions and duty to be honest as the reason why he saw what the President did, knew it was wrong, and was able to say so even tho it will cost him politically.
I disagree with him on lots of things, but he does so in a coherent and logical fashion.
I can have a conversation with him and trust that what he says it what he believes and what he means.
He has my respect.

Ah yes, doing exactly what the mainstream media wants you to do. Stunning and BraveRocketboy1313 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 5:01 pm When Romney ran for President back in 2012 the worst thing I could say about him character wise was that he was hopelessly out of touch.

I wonder how long before he gets lumped in with the evil racist republicans again. I'm guessing less than a month.
Re: Romney taking on Trump
He seems like typical American politician to me. Says what people want to hear and doesn't actually believe in what he says and only cares about working for those that give him campaign donations. In other words rich and big corporations.Rocketboy1313 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 5:01 pm When Romney ran for President back in 2012 the worst thing I could say about him character wise was that he was hopelessly out of touch.

Re: Romney taking on Trump
If he only cared about campaign donations. Then I suspect he would have done what every other member of his party has done and voted with the President.
I don't know what you think the mainstream media is at this point.Antiboyscout wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 5:57 pm Ah yes, doing exactly what the mainstream media wants you to do. Stunning and Brave

I don't know why you think voting against a vindictive President in one's own party isn't brave.
He will probably get lumped in with "evil" Republicans again... when he votes for evil policies.
This might shock you, but I judge people based on what they say and what they do.
If he does a bad thing, I will think less of him.
If he does a good thing, I will think more of him.
But as I mentioned in my initial post,
I should note, that I do not feel this sense of respect for the President.Rocketboy1313 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 5:01 pm I disagree with him on lots of things, but he does so in a coherent and logical fashion.

Trump does not have a thought in his head, and his self serving nature keeps me from acknowledging that he has principles that I can have a conversation with him about.
I do not trust him.
No one should.

Re: Romney taking on Trump
Mitt Romney is in as much of a safe seat as Nancy Pelocy. He's a Mormon in Utah; he'll Never get voted out of office. It's easy to be "brave" when you won't lose anything by it.Rocketboy1313 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 7:48 pm

I guess Mitt would have to use his "religious convictions" to justify his decision considering Trump broke no statutory crime. He just "feels" Trump did something wrong. Kinda goes against your "logical" argument tho.

Sure, if you ignore the evidence. Seems to be a lot of that going on.Antiboyscout wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 10:47 pm I guess Mitt would have to use his "religious convictions" to justify his decision considering Trump broke no statutory crime.
