Open season on Legal Observers and Journalists in Portland

Post by Fuzzy Necromancer »

No, I'm not talking about another good Christian boy with an illegally possessed weapon taking potshots at innocent lives. In this case it's the appeal court exposing people who watch and record atrocities.
https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/appeals-court-temporarily-halts-protections-journalists-legal-observers/story?id=72688755

From the court statement:
This means that journalists could be subjected to the same physical force as that of the individuals participating.

So even watching and writing news articles about people protesting Our Glorious Leader can legally get you a cracked skull and an arse full of lead.

Don't tell me this isn't a Fascist state. Don't tell me that Fascism isn't flexing its muscles in the USA. If this where happening in some small nation in the Middle East our leaders would be calling for us to bomb them and haul the leader into international court.

This isn't a fascist state. Fascism isn't flexing its muscles in the USA.

This was a judgement from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, a very liberal group as the US judiciary goes, because it was both broad and unclear. Nobody's being thrown in jail for saying things that Trump doesn't like.

The authoritarians are on the left, suppressing free speech on the grounds that things they don't like to hear are violence anyway. Apparently even white silence is violence.

This was a 2-1 decision, and both judges on the 2 side were Trump appointees. Why do you fucking lie so often? Pretending that Trump appointees are liberal judges. Oh right, because your worldview is that this is just fine. You don't lie because you disagree with this action, you lie to muddy the waters about who does it. You know that your views are disgusting and despicable to normal people, that's why all you can do is lie about things to try and make them more palpable.

Yes, this is very obviously fascist tactics to deny people information, and yes this was shoved through by Eric Miller and Daniel Bress, two Trump appointees. Trump appointees support Trump, big surprise. Trump favors loyalty over any sort of morals or qualifications, because to Trump, loyalty is the only qualification.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say the real authoritarians are the ones going around in unmarked white vans snatching people off the street, not the ones asking people to shut up. It's like Grey said, always attack, never defend, because to support these Republicans you defend the indefensible.
