Is Yennefer's Story in Netflix's Witcher An Allegory for Transgender

Post by Winter »

A Sorta Sequel to my last post this is one that I personally agree with. TV Tropes put it best so I'll just quote them on this "Many trans people also find Yennefer's story (early rejection, having to go through major changes to be accepted, but having many leftover insecurities, especially with regard to having children) very relatable." To take a look at one scene when Yen is looking at the dresses she will be able to wear once she's transformed is VERY relatable to those who are either trans or know someone who is trans.

While Cloud from FFVII being trans is just a fun fan theory Yen's story in the Netflix series (not sure about the books as I haven't read many of them aside from The Last Wish (the short story not the collection of Short Stories)) being allegory for those who are trans is a real possibility. For those who are not trans to help show you what I mean go and read Dreadnought which is the story of a transgirl who is magically given her ideal body and then re-watch the Witcher series and the parallels between both Danny and Yen become more noticeable.

I never thought of it like that. I honestly never thought of her transformation anything more than what I saw onscreen.

TBH, I usually don't see that sort of thing until I rewatch it a few times.
I got nothing to say here.

Didn't catch it on first viewing, but now I can't unsee it.
When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty.
