I don't like it when creators outright lie to fans. I'm okay with little white lies like how in the trailers for Avengers: Endgame Black Widow's hair was digitally dyed blond and removed Professor Hulk and Thor. That's harmless and kinda fun when after the film we go back and have fun seeing how well they tricked us without technically actually lying to us and the creators carefully phrased their words and never said or did anything that was technically inaccurate.
And then we have Masters of the Universe: Revelation and The Last of Us Part 2 which had the creators of both series outright lying in both cases on rather big things with both saying that MOTUR is He-Man's story and TLOF2 is Ellie's and Joel's story and both saying that the story in question was going to focus on both the character people want to see... And both are outright lies as He-Man is killed in episode 1 of the show and Joel is likewise killed before the end of Act 1 in TLOU2. For me, it's not that these characters are killed that bug me as I've never had that much investment in He-Man as a character and I was expecting Joel to die but rather it's the fact that the creators lied to the fans instead of being upfront or, at the very least, less pissy about fans who are, understandably, upset at not only seeing a character they love die but also being lied to.
Now, personally I've yet to watching MOTUR mainly because, again, I've never been a huge fan of the series. I love She-Ra and the Princesses of Power but I only checked it out at first due to a few friends saying that I would like it. This series, however, well... I do plan to eventually watch but I don't like how it lied during marketing. Say what you will about She-Ra and its comments to the original series but it never tried to hide what it was and was as upfront as it could get when it came to marketing. It helped that it did show respect to the original in later seasons and had a good story to tell with a well thought out plot and well rounded characters.
But, Revelation is intended as a direct sequel to the original series and killing off the main character and lying by saying said sequel was his story only to kill him off in the first episode... I just don't care for that sort of mentality. I didn't like it in TLOU2 and I don't like it here. Again, not a fan of the original series, I'm not angry because of how this is being written, I'm annoyed because the creators lied and are playing the wounded party when if they had been a bit more upfront it likely wouldn't have gotten this bad.
You don't have to give away any major plot points but you can be more upfront about it. Just say, at the start, that this is Teela's story and not He-Man's but promise that Adam/He-Man will play a major role in the series and that we'll get to see him kick-@$$ like in the old days. Sure, he'll still be killed but from what I understand he DOES play a major role and will make a return at some point so fans are at least prepared to see where this story goes and aren't angry that they are being lied to.
I hate to keep harping on about that but I just don't care for this type of marketing because it doesn't make the creators seem clever it makes them look like an @$$ because they were more interested in outsmarting the viewer then just letting them experience their story.

Re: Masters of the Universe: Revelation: Your Thoughts (Spoilers)
My opinion?
My opinion is that you have to be completely unfamiliar with 80 years of comic/animation history to believe He-Man is going to stay dead and if this had been all ten episodes, it would be just like JUSTICE LEAGUE where Superman is dead and then the heroes get some character development as well as mourning before they grab the Mother Box plus the Resurrection Pit to bring him back.
So the outrage is silly.
This is just the first season of CASTLEVANIA where everything is set up. I feel like everyone has lost all fucking patience with storytelling. OH MY GOD, HE-MAN IS DEAD! RUINED FOREVER! Sweet King Grayskull, people, the outrage here is just sad.
We already have fucking Skeletor back.
Its like people have forgotten plot arcs are a thing.

My opinion is the same opinion I have of Mad Max Fury Road. If the show i'm watching is called ''He-Man'' I don't want to watch someone else. Especially when girls already have their own He-Man show - its called She-Ra. How about letting boys have their show?CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Sat Jul 31, 2021 5:34 pm My opinion?

And Kevin Smith - the man who has based his entire career on supposedly being ''one of us'' is a f-king idiot if he didn't see this coming. No sympathy for him. Especially once he started to insult the fans. Uh, tell me Rian Johnson/Neil Druckmann/the creative crew behind such classics as Birds of Prey, Terminator Dark Fate Ghostbusters and Charlies Angels, how well did that work out for you?
And worse, this woman we are following is not Teela. The Teela I remember wasn't some self-centred bitch who whines over Prince Adam not telling her that he is He-Man. This would be like making a mini-series in the wake of the Death of Superman whereby Lois burns all of Clark's clothes.
And no, I don't care that he'll be coming back. Do you know how best to avoid this controversy? The simple way to do it that would have required absolutely no effort? Make parts 1 and 2 one season as opposed to putting a break in the middle. There, done.

And speaking of Skeletor, has anyone else noticed that Kevin Smith looks like Skeletor of late? He actually looked healthier when he was fat.

Adam is in three out of five episodes.
So let's forget the bullshit that he's not in the series.

As someone that watched the original He-man as a kid, I can state that while old school Teela wasn't whiney she could be slightly bitchy at times.clearspira wrote: ↑Sat Jul 31, 2021 6:42 pmand worse, this woman we are following is not Teela. Re: Masters of the Universe: Revelation: Your Thoughts (Spoilers)
But the series isn't called He-Man it's called Masters of the Universe: Revelation, also Max actually has more screen time then Furiosa AND he wasn't really the focus of any of his other films. Max is only an active protagonist in his first film and even then not until the 3d act and in the other films he is more of a passive protagonist in the second and third film. Fury Road is the only one where he plays an active role in the plot alongside Furiosa.clearspira wrote: ↑Sat Jul 31, 2021 6:42 pm My opinion is the same opinion I have of Mad Max Fury Road. There are legitimate reasons to be upset at this show but the title isn't one of them and Mad Max: Fury Road is about Mad Max with Furiosa as the co-lead.

The argument doesn't need facts even if He-Man comes back after a few episodes.

Am I the only one who finds it weird that anyone cares enough about He-Man to get upset over this?
