It strikes me as a bit "sorry we got caught", as they knew full well who they've been funding, and what state they've been moving a lot of their business to. They were more than happy to take advantage of the relaxed business regulation, tax cuts, etc. I'm glad they're taking this stance, but it's not part of a consistent company policy.
The really interesting part will be what actions they take going forward.

Yeah, there isn't an ounce of sincerity there, but what I care about is that there's a result.

I'm sure Disney will be equally pleased to make contributions to any legistators whatsoever, as long as they vote Disney's way.

Well as long as you keep buying tickets to see movies in their theaters no less then I don't see the problem going away any time soon.Frustration wrote: ↑Sat Mar 19, 2022 12:27 am I'm sure Disney will be equally pleased to make contributions to any legistators whatsoever, as long as they vote Disney's way.

I don't, as it happens! I do have some sympathy for people who review media products and thus have to pay to see Disney's stuff; my ability to write off the entire corporation and all its workings is a luxury not everyone can afford.

Indeed. All other considerations are secondary.Frustration wrote: ↑Sat Mar 19, 2022 12:27 am I'm sure Disney will be equally pleased to make contributions to any legislators whatsoever, as long as they vote Disney's way.

I also saw that the backlash to them trying to be smug about how inclusive their output is while they've been actively cutting LGBT content from it at an executive level got some stuff it had happened too put back into Lightyear.
I don't think they had quite grasped how dramatic the sea change in the last decade was until now.

I think part of it is that big name investors are significantly older and more conservative than the general public. Either because they hate gay people more than they love money or because they genuinely don't understand that the majority of people do not share thier bigotry especially since the majority of people that have little kids now are millenials.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Sun Mar 20, 2022 1:18 pm I also saw that the backlash to them trying to be smug about how inclusive their output is while they've been actively cutting LGBT content from it at an executive level got some stuff it had happened too put back into Lightyear.
