Okay, this looks really cool. Sure, I'm not found that this is being released direct to streaming and the CGI doesn't look great but besides that, this looks really good. Before going over my thoughts on this trailer here is my general opinion about each Predator film I've seen.
Predator
Obviously this film is great with fun but simple premise that gave us a monster that could rival if not outright defeat Arnold Shwarzenegger with a great design that gave us a alien that wasn't interested in destroying Earth but rather just hunting the most dangerous prey. While personally I think it takes a little to long to get going it's still a fun film.
Predator 2
This is a film I've always had mixed feelings on. On the one had it added a great deal to the lore of the series by making the Predators more "Honorable" and the characters were overall really engaging. But it felt to much like a Lethal Weapon film and the structure of the plot makes very little sense and the final battle honestly drags on WAAAY to long but the scene where we see all the Predators and see their strange sense of Nobility by letting Harrigan live and even giving him an old pistol because of how well he fought is, IMO, one of the best moments in the series.
Alien vs. Predator
I honestly think this film is Underrated. Sure, most of the characters aren't great and the sets are obviously sets but the action scenes are fun, the practical effects are some of the best in both Predator AND Alien and I think Alex is a really solid lead character and the Predators are all really interesting.
Alien vs. Predator: Requiem
Mostly Awful. The plot is dull and uninteresting, the characters are unlikable or forgettable and TURN ON A LIGHT!!! I can barely see anything so while I would like to Praise the effects I can't because the Directors have no idea how to light a scene in this movie.
However, I actually like the idea of a PreAlien, think it's design is actually really cool and the idea of this stage of the Queen's life cycle is something that I find rather interesting even if it makes no sense. And the Predator in this film, Wolf, is hands down the BEST Predator in the film. He manages to convey so much character and personality and is SUCH a badass. I honestly wish the film was just about him hunting Aliens and ended with him living to fight another day. Him dying at the end is just one more sin against this movie's long list of screw ups.
Predators
This film had potential, it looks really good, the idea of Predators taking people from Earth to a "Game Preserve" which doubles as a metaphor for Hell and everyone here deserves to be here is a good concept for a story and the characters are all engaging and manage to avoid being characters I want to see die which given their all awful is no small feat. I will even say that I get why a weak serial killer is included as it could have been done by the Predators to hinder the progress of their prey by giving them someone to protect that would hurt the ones protecting him.
All that said, the idea of a new Super Predator that are more dangerous then the OG Predator just comes off as stupid and the design of the face behind the mask is just silly looking and the concept of being trapped on an alien planet is wasted as it never FEELS like we're on a Alien world and the film's lead, Royce, is just not terribly intimidating. Adrien Brody is giving a good performance but he just doesn't strike me as someone who could be a legitimate threat no matter how much he grows his lines.
I think Royce is a good character but someone else should have been giving this role and the ending of the film was just, bland. I remember thinking "That's how you end the movie?" Still enjoyable but I just felt it didn't live up this it's potential.
The Predator
What can I say about this film that hasn't already been said? It's BAD.
It lacks any sense of tension, the comedy over shadows any of the elements from the rest of the film (and I don't even find it that funny to begin with) the characters are bland and forgettable, the Super SUPER Predator is a TERRIBLE villain with a bland design, forgettable personality and was shown way to much and someone needs to explain to the creators of this film how autism works because it's understanding of autism is roughly on par with my understanding of Rocket Science, i.e. there is no understanding. This film is dumb and jumbled mess that feels like it's trying to be a Deadpool PLAYED STRAIGHT!!!
And thus we come to Prey and right off the bat I have to say I LOVE how the film is shaping up. This very much feels like a back to basics story with the Predator hunting in the woods with a greater emphasis on Horror and Action. The way the film looks is also really nice to the point that I honestly can't tell if this was done on location or not. Again, the CGI doesn't look great but it doesn't look terrible in anything and some shots look really good and it does look like they'll be using a lot of practical effects for the film and from what little we can see the Predator itself looks really cool.
So, yeah, while I wish this was being released in theaters this still looks good and a return to form for Predator. I even give them props for calling it Prey like when the Third Wolverine movie was just called Logan, it's a gutsy move to not include the title of the series for any sequel.
Whether it's good or not will largely depend on the film's lead character Naru played by Amber Midthunder (Awesome last name) and she does look good for the role.
Re: Prey
I liked the first two Predators on their own merits.
The first movie is such a fun, amusing sci fi action gore fest. The big muscle dudes getting killed left and right. Predator looking so cool, that creepy clicking 'purr'. Saw the movie accidently when I was like six. It really did make me scared of the dark due to it for a little bit.
The second one I like just because it still felt big. Like the Predator was going around the entire city and not just some random block like some movies make it feel.
The other movies go from dull and boring to bad and horrible.

I got nothing to say here.

Re: Prey
I'm fond of the human element in Predators, just not so much the suspense from the predators themselves.
The idea of the movie was that each of the participants transferred to the planet are exceptional hunters.

..What mirror universe?

It would be interesting to see a human/Predator hunting chess match type of movie. Both hunting each other, traps, counters etc.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Sat Jun 18, 2022 11:10 pm I'm fond of the human element in Predators, just not so much the suspense from the predators themselves.

As said, slightly underdisplayed.
