I'm honestly amazed that TNG survived given that THIS is the episode that it opened with its second season, the one where Trio is raped and the rapist is treated as a good guy. Honestly most of the first two seasons are awful and really makes me appreciate the first couple of seasons in both Discovery and Picard, they're not great but as early TNG has shown it could have been a LOT worse.

Ohhh I get that too. In fact there is a nice segment where everyone but Troi herself is talking about the fate of lifeform that is in Troi. Then she speaks up and everyone listens.

Even the 'painless birth' as of it seems makes it OK.

Oh, I can tell you how the show survived The Child: Twitter and MeToo weren't things yet.

Impossible to pick between The Child, Shades of Grey, Code of Honour, and Up the Long Ladder. When you get to such a utter nadir of quality that it becomes impossible to choose.

The sex candle one is truly dire but at least it occasionally hits that it's so bad it's funny tier.

I think the only Treks where I could actually pick one out truly below all would be Profit and Lace in DS9 and Mugato, Gumato for Lower Decks where they're so bad that even with other dire episodes they still manage to be worse. All the others have 3-5 where it gets too hard to tell.

Aw, I liked Mugato, Gumato. Admittedly part of that may be because I find Mariner with somebody else's blood running down her chin really hot. >.>

Nothing wrong with finding your own diamond in the rough

For me though I just really disliked it, as even compared to early s1, it comes off hard as Rick & Morty in a way that even Final Space didn't do as badly as, and that show had a piss fight. The voyeur Gumato jacking it, the tasting of shit, the random character introduced to be brutally killed for lols, it just didn't at all work in the slightest.

(Incidentally Final Space does get a lot better but there's still no excuse for that one episode and a couple of their more grosser excursions into poor taste)
