This should be entertaining.
Let's be honest Cindy's two most notable romances suck. Pretty much everyone agrees that her "Romance" with Peter is one of the worst ideas in Spider-Man, the fans hated it, the people who gave Cindy a solo series hated it, the characters wish to forget it ever happened and the guy who came up with the idea hates it. And her relationship with her boyfriend in the comics, I think his name is Jack, is so forgettable that I'm pretty sure the writers keep forgetting about it.
So, seeing that no hetero romance has worked with Cindy, should she get a female love interest as her most popular pairing is with Felicia Hardy aka Black Cat.
You all know me, you know I'm bias towards same sex romances so you can guess where I stand on this and it should be noted adaptational sexuality or a character coming out as gay or bi is not now nor will ever be a bad thing. Ice-Man was heterosexual until it was retconned later that he was gay and it worked for his character, even Stan Lee was onboard for the idea. She-Ra can be subtitled Adaptational Sexuality The Series and. well, that's show is one of Netflix's most popular.
But where does that leave Cindy? Should Insomniac just drop her interests in men and have her enter into a relationship with another girl? Personally I think it depends on the relationship in question.
Again the one with Peter is awful and the one with whatshisname is so forgettable that I can't even remember it so why not give it a try? Introduce a female character who has a history with Cindy and if their chemistry works in a romantic way go for it.
Thoughts?

I haven't played either game (Xbox kid), so just to ask the obvious question. Is Miles single in the games? Because, if the theories I'm hearing about Silk being Insomniac's Spider-Gwen equivalent are accurate, Miles seems like the likely option.
But your question was if she SHOULD have a girlfriend. To which I say: Sure, why not? I can never think of a legit reason why you can't just put established characters in non-hetero pairings apart from "they're already taken". Could make her ace and/or keep her single. We don't see ace characters enough, either.

Miles is dating his friend Hailey, aka best girl in the multiverse aka the perfect girl for him aka Not A Miles/Gwen Shipper Here, at the end of the game and at the Miles and Cindy's parents are dating so the two might end up as step siblings. As for Cindy as Ace, yeah that could be done to but I'm a romantic and a lesbian so I have a built in bias towards Cindy being in a relationship with another girl.ProfessorDetective wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 7:59 am I haven't played either game (Xbox kid), so just to ask the obvious question. Now personally I've never been a big shipper of Cindy and Felicia as I'm honestly a Spider-Cat shipper through and through (and even I think breaking up Peter and MJ was a mistake and that they should get back together). So should Cindy get a female love interest I would rather her be a original character... or building on what Thebestoftherest said.
Then here's an idea. 100 DAYS OF YURI CHALLENGE CHAPTER 73! CAN I BORROW YOU FOR A MOMENT!

Have Cindy's love interest from the comics be a transwoman in this game. Insomniac's Spider-Man is a series that has made MASSIVE changes to the lore of Spider-Man to make their own unique series and it has been a success in that regards and this honestly wouldn't even enter the top 10 things that were completely altered the lore to work in the 1048 Verse (Insomniac's continuity).
Again, Cindy's main love interest so so boring that he's not even written about in any fan fic and has yet to appear in any fan art that I know of so changing him to her via transgender likely wouldn't even register on fans Give A Sh!t Meter. And speaking as a trans woman it would be nice to have one of us in one of the biggest Superhero Game series of all time.

I suppose my reaction is, "Maybe?"
It feels like part of the reason that Spider Man works for the setting is mostly fidelity to the characters with the biggest changes being done to Mary Jane and that, coincidentally, makes her the least popular of the depictions. Representation is good but I already wonder if Cindy Moon was the best choice for this character to be the third Spider-Person to begin with.
Jessica Drew might have been better.

Or a Spider Gwen, she got her fans from the films.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 12:11 pm I suppose my reaction is, "Maybe?"

Well they stated that they were debating on going for Gwen but because the character is tied to one of the most popular Spider-Man series that having such a well known character would be building up to much hype. Same thing for Jessica thanks to her role in Across the Spider-Verse, these characters are so popular right now that it would set a bar that was so high that no one could hit it.Thebestoftherest wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 9:36 pmOr a Spider Gwen, she got her fans from the films.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 12:11 pm I suppose my reaction is, "Maybe?"

Keep in mind that Miles wasn't that well known outside the comics and Sony included him because he was a character they could get more thanks to Peter being shared between Marvel Studios and Sony while Miles they had complete control over since it would be years before Miles showed up in the MCU. That's why Miles appeared in two major Sony projects in the same year, Into the Spider-Verse and the first Insomniac Spider-Man game because it would firmly establish him as a Spider-Man NOT involved in the MCU.
The downside was, as I said, Spider-Verse became a huge hit so using the same characters that the series turned into household names was a double edged sword and Insomniac knew that. They could include Gwen or Jess but doing so would make people compare them to their Spider-Verse counterparts and buildup to much hype for them before we could even get to know them in this continuity.
Cindy is a character Sony plans to start getting more out of with a upcoming TV series and as a secondary character in the upcoming Spider-Verse Spin-Off film Spider-Woman. So it makes sense that Insomniac would want to include her before she got more well known.
Also, as I said in other posts, Cindy has a lot more potential when it comes to her overall character. She's more socially awkward then either Peter and Miles, has a unique relationship with J. Jonah Jameson (aka one of only two Spider-Heroes he likes) and is a character who can have her backstory change with no one really getting up in arms over her said changes.
So while Gwen and Jess seem like the more obvious choice they were honestly to big to include in the series thanks to their role in Spider-Verse and any changes would not be welcomed by fans of said characters.

Plus I'll have to check but since despite the name, Spider Woman isn't really connected to Spiderman so they would have to go to Marvel for that.
