Because why not?
So, last month I posted my idea of including a Fairy Godmother into the story of a Wish Remake but with the twist that this FGM was Amaya's Fairy Godmother, one who had granted her charges wish but came to regret it because it started a chain of events that led Amaya and Magnifico to becoming Tyrants. I still like the idea as it ties into the theme that appears in neither version of the movie, which is to be careful what you wish for only that never really comes up. But one thing I did have a problem with is that this didn't really give Asha and FGM (I called her Lillian aka Lily as a tribute to Walt Disney's Wife but now I'm calling her Faye (on the nose yes but when has Disney Ever been subtle?)) didn't really have much of a relationship even though I have it where Faye would die for Asha and Star.
Another issue I have with pretty much every version of Wish is that it doesn't really do anything with Asha's family outside of her grandfather. Her mother is pretty much a none character in both versions and her father is just as bad in the original version and dead in the final version.
So I have a character who is close enough to the main character to lay down her life despite only really knowing her for a few days in universe and only 2 hours out of universe and I have two characters who don't really offer anything to either Asha's character or the greater plot as whole.
So, what to do?
That's when I had an idea, what if Faye and Asha were something more to one another. What if soon after granting Amaya's wish to find true love Faye found her true love... With Asha's mother Sakina. The two met before everything went to shit, fell in love, got married and Sakina made a wish to have a daughter with Faye. Faye then granted this wish and took a little bit of her and a little bit of her wife to create Asha, kind of a Pinocchio type thing except Asha was flesh blood from the start and was a proper baby instead of puppet granted life.
However, soon enough Magnifico and Amaya started to show their true colors and things started to get worse and after a battle to get as many people out of Rosas as possible (which lead to the death of Magnifico's mentor and mother figure getting killed (she'd be a terrible person so don't worry)) obviously the family had to leave.
This is where a tragedy would occur but one that is unique to this family. See Faye is still a fairy, and she doesn't age like humans and that extended to her daughter as well, so while Faye and Asha aged slowly Sakina and Sabino (who I would rework to be Asha's uncle instead of grandfather) grew old. What's worse, Faye wasn't aging as fast as her daughter which led her to have a horrible realization, she would outlive her own daughter. This reality hit hardest when Sakina died and Faye left the Hamlet and continue the fight against her former charge and her husband.
We wouldn't really see much of this in the film proper, I would save it for a TV series cause there's only so much that can be done in a 2 hour film. However, it wouldn't go unsaid, I would have a few scenes where Faye dreams about Sakina about their days after the start of the war and Asha would figure it out.
But Faye would join Asha as she made her way to Rosas and help her in her quest to Stop Magnifico and Amaya, eventually leading her to make a wish with Star's help to give Asha and Star a future and the day is saved.
From here I'm sure what to do, if Faye decides to stay with her daughter or would allow herself to die by passing her life to her Asha which is how Asha gets her powers. On the one hand I love the idea of the tragedy of the whole thing, that a mother could never truly be with her child because she cannot live with the idea that she will outlive her, even if Asha lives for 200 years she will never live as long as her mother. On the other hand I feel that leaving her child could be seen as cruel even if it's for an understandable reason at the end of the day it's still a parent leaving their child and the rest of her family.
Not sure, but I liked the idea of Asha having a fairy godmother as her biological mother (sorta) and I really loved the relationship between the two when I started writing it.
Besides, Disney owes us more LGBT characters in their films, and ones that are well written and have fully fleshed out characters instead of what ever the fuck we got in the Live-Action Beauty and the Beast remake AND YES I'M STILL BITTER ABOUT THAT!!!
