Less false alarm and more “so SOMEONE who was pressing for this got spooked when all of the coverage was about how puritanical interest groups and credit services were the cause and their fake narrative about revenge porn or whatever didn’t work this time”.
It’s also worth noting that their language here is “suspend”, so it most likely is still in the works but with no actual implementation date until people stop paying attention.

Oh absolutely. It is the beloved tool of politicians and business leaders everywhere, right alongside ''focus group'' and ''consultation''. My personal guess as to why this has happened is that they MASSIVELY underestimated just how many women with large social media followings are ''employed'' by them.CmdrKing wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 5:43 pm Less false alarm and more “so SOMEONE who was pressing for this got spooked when all of the coverage was about how puritanical interest groups and credit services were the cause and their fake narrative about revenge porn or whatever didn’t work this time”.

The fact that getting your tits out can earn you so much easy money and fame is a pretty sad indictment of our society though when you think about it. I'm sure many will feel different, but is that really the message that we want to teach our young girls? And more to the point, it certainly isn't a message that is going to teach young boys any respect for women.

I never thought of it like that. Makes you think.J!! wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 2:12 amDude, you're on a website that exists entirely because people are willing to pay a man to talk about StarTrek every week.clearspira wrote: ↑Fri Aug 20, 2021 1:19 am I often wonder about the kind of thirsty guy that would dump hundreds onto a woman that he doesn't even know, never will know and wouldn't have a chance even if he did. Its not just simple, ah, ''pleasuring'' because there is plenty of free stuff out there for that. My gut feeling veers onto ''INCEL''. But there are too many for that.
To be fair, I never really understood the practice of sticking a bill into the thong of a stripper either. There are better ways to spend your money people.

Teaching young boys to respect women is the job of their parents, not OnlyFans. Anyway, there are plenty of ways boys grow into misogynists without online titties. As long as you have decent sex ed and teach them that porn isn't how real relationships work, I wouldn't worry too much about online adult content.clearspira wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 7:49 pmAnd more to the point, it certainly isn't a message that is going to teach young boys any respect for women.

Kind of a red herring saying that certain people's rather valid market exposure should be taken away for the purity sake of children. Of all the things you can be socialistic about, by means of economic progressiveness, it involves the disenfranchisement of a group inherently victimized in your premise.clearspira wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 7:49 pmThe fact that getting your tits out can earn you so much easy money and fame is a pretty sad indictment of our society though when you think about it. I'm not really sure where the decency subversion is though. In our society we have a good polarity of goods and services outlined (on a continuum) of essential goods (more or less necessary food/shelter, sustainable) to non-essential goods (more or less entertainment, temporal consumerism). So if this is somehow towards the latter end and needs to be regulated like soda in New York, what's really the big deal?
..What mirror universe?

This is the same argument that video games causes violence. Porn is porn. Not a teaching tool.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 8:07 pmTeaching young boys to respect women is the job of their parents, not OnlyFans. I got nothing to say here.

Agreed, the porn bots are just as active as ever. In the last month, I had no less than 4 of these duckers following me and it's like a hydra you report one and 50 others pop out of the ground. Look I don't mind porn but these blogs are just bots posting porn pics and no one knows where the pictures they post come from. I mean Tumblr staff ignored complaints of child porn (and I mean actual child porn, not the stuff the antis are complaining about) for years. Then porn bots got out of hands, and that too was ignored. Reporting this shit was useless because it would just get lost and it was made clear that no one gave a fuck, which was great when it came to fandom stuff and LGBTQA+ stuff etc, but this stuff was legitimately dangerous. so instead of creating a filtration system for Child P and MAAP stuff and cracking down on the porn ban they just threw the baby out with the bathwater and banned all adult stuff, never mind how it affected sex-positive blogs, no matter how it affected sex workers, educators, fandom creators, and LGBT+ blogs. They should just have made the app 18+ on the app store and then cracked down on the illegal shit, instead they bowed to Apple's demands and fucked up a halfway decent platform. Though on the bright side all the crazies went to Twitter and Tumblr is a lot more chill these days.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 7:14 amTumblr was kind of a burning-the-village-to-save-it case, only it turns out the invaders are fireproof. That place is still crawling with pornbots. At least the tagging system made it easy to avoid stuff you wanted to not see.ProfessorDetective wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 9:54 pm Eh, OF is more the Patreon of Erotic Content while PornHub's the YouTube...
At least before that whole mess with Visa/MasterCard and those alleged reports of underage videos on the site (FtR, there's only been 100-ish real incidents out of tens of millions of videos in the last decade) leading to them gutting their archive and requiring profile verification to post.
Same reasoning behind Tumblr dumping their Adult blogs (though they actually had a proper problem there. If you knew the right tags, you could find some proper criminal trash).
