Police: please don’t sell milkshakes to anti-fascists
Re: Police: please don’t sell milkshakes to anti-fascists
I'm not at all surprised by the people here who are supporting political violence and censorship through intimidation. Some people really are everything they claim to hate.

Since a few people didn’t click through to the link: the McDonalds wasn’t screening customers, they were asked not to sell shakes at all during Farage’s visit.
The dignity of a fascist being of more import to police than the lives of people he claims are “flooding” the country. But then that is how police do.

You are far left progressive.
You remeber the Left making a bid deal about the YOu Lie being yelled at Obama?Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 11:01 pmLittle known fact: getting any dairy product spilled on your shirt is going to paralyze your vocal chords. It's amazing the kind of stuff right-wingers will decry as "violence" while also accusing the left of being a bunch of hyper-sensitive snowflakes and crybabies.
The only sane reaction is for the people with handcuffs and government authority to tell restaurant owners to deny service to people whose politics they disagree with!
What would you blog if you were going to the Women's March and a bunch of redneck bros would throw milkshakes at you?
Spencer was and is irrelevant.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 11:09 pm Does anybody know why this is even talked about?
It was controversial when Richard Spencer got punched by Antifa, but it seems like the same argument is being pushed here except it's not in America and the stakes are overall less.
I would not press charges if i would get punched by someone in the same wight class. Does not mean i would not criticize violence as a political tactic.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 1:53 am Yeah, food fights are the primary means that fascist regimes use to crush all dissent and stay in power.
Look, if you threw a milkshake at me, or a tomato, or even a hardboiled egg, I would not press charges for assault. I wouldn't considered myself attacked. I'd be annoyed.
That's what annoyance is, Darth. It's something you have to do a load of laundry to fix. It's not a parasite leeching your bone marrow for nine months.

Farage is not a fascist. That is just a lie and it is language like that that makes people want to vote against you out of spite.CmdrKing wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 10:22 am Since a few people didn’t click through to the link: the McDonalds wasn’t screening customers, they were asked not to sell shakes at all during Farage’s visit.

You’re right.
Farage is a grifter using fascistic rhetoric to run his grift. His actual, honest belief in the planks of the party he fronted for years is hard to judge. Also immaterial.
Believing that an avowed nationalist whose core talking point are drumming up a sense of grievance against foreign nations and inflaming racism against immigrants and minority religions is somehow *NOT* employing fascistic rhetoric shows a profound misunderstanding of what fascism is and how it propagates.
And bluntly no one votes for the likes of UKIP to “show them commie snowflakes” or however it might be properly phrased in U.K. parlance. In the main, they vote them out of an unrelenting fear of the unknown and a fierce desire to hurt it. And no amount of kindness or deference will alleviate that fear.
It may sway the grifters, those who see the outcomes of these things and think themselves able to profit, by the true believers are not in a place to be swayed by rational argument and niceties.

The people yelling fascism today have no clue and they should stop using it period.CmdrKing wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 1:13 pm You’re right.

So being against deregulation is not voting against the unknown?

Fuzzy, this is the UK. Acid attacks are an almost daily occurrence.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 8:24 pm If we let them get away with this, it might escalate to margaritas or even, gods forbid, greek yogurt! That would be terrible! It might bring back the dark days of bad performers being pelted with mushy tomatoes! Then, truly, the terrorists will have won.
Good to know that if I meet you at a bar and spill beer on your shirt you'll be pressing charges for assault with a deadly weapon, big man.
It's eggs and milkshakes until it isn't.
If they switch to bricks and bleach I expect a full apology.

The fascists are the ones engaging in political violence and intimidation meant to silence their opposition, and doing everything they can to dehumanize them and destroy their lives.CmdrKing wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 10:22 am Since a few people didn’t click through to the link: the McDonalds wasn’t screening customers, they were asked not to sell shakes at all during Farage’s visit.

Re: Police: please don’t sell milkshakes to anti-fascists
And you start with another straw man. You're usually more honest than this, Fuzzy. Why do you continue to avoid the simple truth that this is violence used to suppress free speech? That for all the talk of fascism, the people being attacked generally aren't authoritarian, and the people doing the attacking are invoking an authoritarian tactic?Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 1:53 am Yeah, food fights are the primary means that fascist regimes use to crush all dissent and stay in power.

Re: Police: please don’t sell milkshakes to anti-fascists
I can't help seeing the throwing of food as a populist tactic rather than an authoritarian one. Unless it's, like, a frozen fish or a fruit with a pit, like peaches or avocado, I can't take this seriously as violence. It's annoying. It's crass. It's rude. It's not violent suppression of free speech.
