From what I gather Captain Crimson is actually younger as he loathes to call himself a Zoomer, or Gen Z. That was a discussion about the Generations.Makeshift Python wrote: ↑Mon Jun 14, 2021 11:57 pmI'm assuming because he's older, he's no longer among the target audience.McAvoy wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 3:25 amMythical younger or mainstream fanbase? You mean the age group that everyone focuses on for the past 80 years to sell their product? All of a sudden it is a mythical age group now because you don't agree with the product that is being aimed at them?Captain Crimson wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 3:20 amLook at the grief the modern consumer has to deal with, tossed aside in favor of the mythical younger or mainstream fanbase, and many are uncertain as to the future of where entertainment media goes.McAvoy wrote: ↑Sat May 29, 2021 3:18 am Yet again the same exact thing can be said of you. Like I said someone else can waste their time breaking down your list. I won't because for the same exact reason you just said of me.
That nothing will convince you and your heart is set in stone.
Instead of more black characters, how about more interracial couples? I actually find those surprisingly sparse compared to, well, ever.

Ah, so a self-loathing Zoomer. In every generation there's always groups of people who hate their generation, claiming they were born too late and wish their generation was more like the previous one or two.

Yep. Then you got the older generations that think they are better than the ones that came afterwards.Makeshift Python wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 8:41 am Ah, so a self-loathing Zoomer. Too true. It's a sentiment I want to very much avoid when I get older, because I recognize that when people get older they feel more vulnerable, thus worried their offspring may do something bad that they can't control.

But what if a previous generation genuinely was better than this one? It is only natural to be wistful for better things, yes?Makeshift Python wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 8:41 am Ah, so a self-loathing Zoomer. Was there a better previous generation? I suppose you could say the WW2 generation would be better considering how easy it was to have a living wage, own a car and a house on a single earner salary. Then you could say well, that generation had to deal with WW2 and the Korean War. Boomers had Vietnam but they also were in the middle of a bad economy in the 70's.clearspira wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 7:32 pmBut what if a previous generation genuinely was better than this one? Maybe Gen X? Outside the Gulf War, it was pretty peaceful for them. And the economy was rebuilding.
Nevermind race problems of each generation.

It depends entirely on perspective. I would have been happier as a Boomer I think. Blue collar jobs everywhere, cheap houses, shameless masculinity, shameless smoking, shameless patriotism, and as i'm not American, no draft to worry about.McAvoy wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 3:26 amWas there a better previous generation? But I am also a straight white male. I'm sure women, blacks and the LGBT will have a different opinion.

And typically government had much less oversight over everything back then, so it's like if you're libertarian or anarchist it's a win win for a lot of people.clearspira wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 2:26 pmIt depends entirely on perspective. Definitely. The CEOs or owners of the companies weren't trying to penny pinch every single cent out of their workers to make themselves richer.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 8:52 pmAnd typically government had much less oversight over everything back then, so it's like if you're libertarian or anarchist it's a win win for a lot of people.clearspira wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 2:26 pmIt depends entirely on perspective. The economy wasn't nearly as expansive I think. You didn't have as many corporations probably during the depression, but they were there. There was also a lot less money in circulation that was able to more strongly buy the limited amount of things available.McAvoy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 2:51 amDefinitely. Inequality is directly observable from the outset of the industrial revolution.
