Justice League: Grudge Match
So the villains can control the superheroes through their earpieces and nobody notices. And they use it to make money via cat-fights. I mean, I get the appeal of spandex-cat-fights, but anyone else getting the feeling that the villains kinda lost the plot and wasted a huge opportunity there?
"If you get shot up by an A6M Reisen and your plane splits into pieces - does that mean it's divided by Zero?

Yeah, it seems like these guys definitely got themselves into a Sauron situation.
They don't want to run the world with a superhuman army, they want to host superhuman cat fights!

Re: Justice League: Grudge Match
Let's be fair here: supervillains are entitled to be dumb and have nonsensical motivations because they are insane and evil. ''I want to make you suffer'' is their entire aim in life.
The heroes on the other hand are meant to be heroes. Saving lives, doing good, being selfless etc. So on that score, the biggest asshole prick in the entire DC universe is Superman and followed by any of the other genius tech heroes. Because with their technology and alien contacts they COULD cure cancer. They COULD get rid of fossil fuels. They COULD make our lives infinitely more comfortable and safe than they are currently doing.
Does Superman do that? No. He just hordes all of his supremely advanced tech in the Fortress of Solitude and spends his days stopping random muggers and the old supervillain which equate to far less lives saved on average than curing disease would. Seriously, he is an asshole prick with the blood of a million children dying of cancer on his hands. And don't give me the whole ''even Superman cannot help everyone'' guff when that is what doctors and hospitals equipped with Kryptonian tech could be doing.
In fact, this is kind of the whole problem with DC and why (I think) its actually quite hard to translate DC to film compared to Marvel because DC heroes tend to be presented to us as paragons of virtue whereas Marvel heroes tend to be presented to us as ordinary - and often slightly assholeish - people. And any attempt to deviate from that such as ''Man of Steel'' is NOT what the fandom wants. You can justify Tony Stark or Reed Richards not sharing their insane technology far further than Superman not doing so.

Congratulations you just cited Reed Richards is Useless. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/ ... sIsUselessclearspira wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 1:00 pm Let's be fair here: supervillains are entitled to be dumb and have nonsensical motivations because they are insane and evil. And the easy answer to why does Superman not share his uber tech to cure cancer? He does not have it. But he does have some powerful combat robots. Could he share those with the police?
Now the excuse I hear is the giving weapons to primitives. Would you give nuclear bombs to WW1 generals? Napoleon? These are people likely to use the destructive applications and assume there is something to fix the downsides without checking.
As to the using the tech in this episode more effectively? Microsoft came out with the Kinect. It is to play video games. . . They were initially furious that people had other applications for the technology. So perhaps the narrow vision is not that far fetched.

Have you seen the news, with people nervous about using drones in war gare, do you really want the real life chef Wiggins to have access to murder bots.Nealithi wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 1:29 pmCongratulations you just cited Reed Richards is Useless. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/ ... sIsUselessclearspira wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 1:00 pm Let's be fair here: supervillains are entitled to be dumb and have nonsensical motivations because they are insane and evil. My point on Superman's robots is we already have a thread about the danger of weaponizing robots in police. So is it really a good idea.Thebestoftherest wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 9:03 pmHave you seen the news, with people nervous about using drones in war gare, do you really want the real life chef Wiggins to have access to murder bots.Nealithi wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 1:29 pmCongratulations you just cited Reed Richards is Useless. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/ ... sIsUselessclearspira wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 1:00 pm Let's be fair here: supervillains are entitled to be dumb and have nonsensical motivations because they are insane and evil. The problem with 'the technology' that Superman has access to is could we actually use any of it? One example was give Leonardo Di Vinci a cell phone. What would he accomplish with it?
The handful of people that can use and or integrate kryptonian technology are one off inventors or insane villains. Not the best source to find disease cures. It may well be we need to get to a tech level we can properly grasp what the stuff does before we decipher it for a leg up.
And personally I think the government would piecemeal any such technology for their personal gains long before a civilian saw any benefit.

Fair, I mean if you have Vinci a cell phone and asked for another you would get a very pretty painting of a cell phone.Nealithi wrote: ↑Fri Dec 16, 2022 6:53 amMy point on Superman's robots is we already have a thread about the danger of weaponizing robots in police.
