Cupid's Errant Arrow

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

Speaking as a guy who professionally writes funny books (Supervillainy Saga was a best seller for a brief hot second), I don't have any problem with cringe comedy. I also disagree with the idea it requires a lack of empathy. Spider-Man has been doing cringe comedy for decades and Charlie Brown's life is suffering. I also like 80% of the comedy this episode.

They just needed to dial it a LITTLE more down for these two and it would have been perfect.
Spider-Man's life did gradually improve over the decades until One More Day undid all of that and reset him to square one. Fan reactions should give a good idea just how tired people are of Peter being the perennial loser.

And Charles Schultz once stated that for all the bad things that happen to Charlie Brown he isn't a loser because a loser would have given up a long time ago. And the comic isn't even all about Charlie Brown's misfortunes, they're just the bits that are most recognized and parodied.

This show has doubled-down on the weird 90s-era pre-wifi writer limitations of PADDs not all having access to the same files instead of fixing that oversight.
Listen man, I wouldn't trust Ensigns with Replicators. Why would you?
First order of business, upgrading the replicators. And hoping it isn't like trying to get a Commodore C16 to run Windows 11.

Certainly not Ross, he's faked a sickie and we know that people who fake being sick to get out of their duties cannot be trusted.

It makes a certain amount of sense that there'd be different models of replicators, with some better equipped for certain tasks. Like, an early 2000's dial-up modem and a modern wifi router can theoretically do the same stuff, but that doesn't mean you can swap one for the other and not notice the difference.

Sure, we know there are food replicators, industrial replicators, and probably a lot more variation based at least on size if nothing else.

Lower Decks suggests that the food menu gives certain people better food than others, which only makes sense for a joke. That is, without making some very troubling assumptions I'd prefer to not do.

(Side note: no, a dial-up modem and a WiFi Router are pretty different and don't really do the same thing at all, even a modem from as late as the early 2000s. I'm sure you could find a very unusual model that had crossover, but such a machine would have been quite unique. I'm positive that both could be converted into a deflector dish in a tight spot, however.)

Specifically, they state that the food selection for the officers is better than the food selection for the enlisted and Ensigns. One of the signs of it being better for the relationships between the two is the latter is given access to the officer's menu.

But I think fans are having a weird reaction here to this.

We're not talking about better beds and private rooms.

The crew have a cafeteria, the officers have a chef.

I'd expect to see that be something Kirk is proud of.

On Voyager, the situation was reversed; everyone ate Neelix's cooking no matter how important they were.
