All this does is, to propagate the myth that people of "divergent" sexuality are in any ways special or "of a different kind". You don't generally wear your sexuality open on involuntary display all day, like one does his or her skin-colour or family's descent. Propagating segregation is a terribly stupid idea on many levels.

Like I'm saying, it's largely credible as a political employment issue. Not to undermine aspects of authenticity, but this tends to be a general underlining progressive facet of casting particular demographics appropriately despite the lateral and unexclusive nature one might be accustomed to.

The big objection with trans stuff is having cis men play trans women, and visa versa *glares at ScarJo*, because this perpetuates the idea that trans people aren't really members of their own gender, instead just another gender doing a performance.

I do agree with that. Though how many trans people are actors though? How many of them can act if they do a open audition? Or is the studio willing?
I got nothing to say here.

An understanding of what performative art is pretty much grounds out the misconception that Fuzzy is saying, which makes it a political issue surrounding employment in Hollywood.

It seems more emblematic of an overall problem in Hollywood rather than a direct issue with the production or interpretation of one film.

Whereas on one side you have reactionaries redundantly retorting by saying "this is how things *work*," with a sophomoric explanation of performative convention, they conversely don't understand that how things work can generally lead to unfair circumstances -- and this is despite all the sensational rhetoric you might hear on one side opposite the other.

I find this statement kinda problematic. You don't need to be whatever to act as a whatever
I dunno, I see it as less a "must" and more of "preference", perhaps because of:
1) It's a reason to do Affirmative Action that's reasonably justifiable
2) It's a subtle way to clue in the audience
3) It's something the director (?) may have wanted to do for creative reasons, such as to make any stories addressing trans issues to really breathe.

Perhaps he was confusing problematic for not the equilibrium choice for the highest caliber output of product for the common good by terms of utility. That or it is mostly a proxy response to a progressive measure.

Dude how many trans people do you know?

There's shitloads of trans actors but Hollywood suits would rather cast the main familiar faces.

Four. Potentially five depending on his decision to go the full route.

Honestly, nowadays when someone mentions an actor's name 95% of the time I will be 'who is that'. Offhand I only know of two.

Hollywood exes has to put down the hammer eventually and audition trans people for trans parts. The other thing would be also increasing the amount of trans people who are on screen.
I got nothing to say here.

I'm not sure Norse mythology really applies in this case because we are talking about a character who is loosely based on a comic book which is loosely based on the mythology.

It's almost like saying 'Simba has to die at the end of The Lion King because that's how Hamlet ended.'
The point of the meme is really just that Norse mythological Loki is just a lot crazier than what Marvel fans are probably used to, and that it's funny how hung up the fans are. I wasn't trying to make an argument that MCU Loki and Norse Loki are one and the same.
