VOY - Night

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

Thing is we've seen repeatedly that most of Starfleet were incredibly hostile to the idea of the EMH, including from Beverly Crusher who always was the 'nice' doctor, so it shouldn't be too surprising it's just not been done even if it would be really useful in Voyager's situation.
You know, that was something I wanted to build in my ST Online days: an all/majority hologram Starfleet ship, when I learned they had not just EMSes, but ESHes, EEHes, Entertainment Holos...

Problem is getting all of them together isn't easy/cheap, unless you're fine with you're crew being a human/klingon holonovel rendition of Macbeth.

Hm. Seeing the same people every day, being isolated and bored for over a year....

Yeah, this an episode you'd think would age well. .-.

Sounds like normal life before CoViD just as much.

Here's my question. Why does a computer program need a holodeck for recreation? Unless he's wanting interaction with the crew there should be no difference between him running the program with or without the actual holodeck projectors. In fact he should be able to meet his entire recreational needs, such as they are, while actively working just by running a recreational subroutine. I doubt he's anywhere near the edge of his resource capacity even while performing complex surgery.

Lockdown has only ruined the lives of extroverts. Introverts like me barely noticed it even happened.

Not even extroverts, who all just jumped on zoom and youtube to interact there, but bossy assholes who cannot go a day without getting themselves all up in someone else's business and trying to tell them how to run their lives. Those are the people whining about lockdown, because it made it so much easier for everyone else to just ignore them. A surprising number of those assholes are in middle management; if anyone is wondering where the demand to get people off remote working and back in an office where they can be micromanaged again, is coming from.

I feel like the crew going absolutely apeshit over the isolation despite the fact that they're a small village that can interact with each other every day just fine is one of the dumbest things the franchise ever conceived.

Yes, I'd never voluntarily interact with Neelix but you're telling me that its utter MADNESS not seeing stars and just having to be with your coworkers?

You know, this whole senario reminds me of Sunless Sea, an RPG where you're a steamship captain on the UnterZee, a massive underground lake with almost no natural light. If you keep the lamps off, your crew go nuts, but you save fuel and can dodge some enemies.
