Unfortunately Episode II set a precedent when it came to him and unjustified child murders. At least the ones in III were after he'd jumped off the deep end and could be explained as evil for the sake of evil. :\excalibur wrote:. I really wished there could have been a better way for that scene to be done without unjustified child murder involved.

What the hell is a justified child murder? Season one Wesley?Dînadan wrote:Unfortunately Episode II set a precedent when it came to him and unjustified child murders. That kid in The Omen you'd be justified in killing.

I could at least credit the episode 2 thing to a blind rage or something. Not an excuse but still redeemable. After episode 3 though... I mean, everything we know he did, Vader really wasn't redeemable anyway, but then to see him slaughter children just solidifies it.Dînadan wrote:Unfortunately Episode II set a precedent when it came to him and unjustified child murders. By accident you time-travel back into the 1880s, Russia, a town in what today is Georgia, it's name is Gori. You come across a child named Joseph Vissarionovic. Would you?GandALF wrote:What the hell is a justified child murder? Season one Wesley?Dînadan wrote:Unfortunately Episode II set a precedent when it came to him and unjustified child murders. Or if we want to stay in more realistic terms, you joined a relief group and end up somewhere in Africa, trying to alleviate the effects of a civil war. You take a step outside the camp to carry some used water away, taking a gun with you to be able to defend yourself against whatever predatorial animal stalks the area down there. You come back to the camp and see a child aiming a Kalashnikov at the people of your group, clearly wanting their supplies and he hasn't noticed you. Would you?
If a child is a sufficient and credible threat, the question really is: Why wouldn't you?

1. In the 1880s there's likely a million different ways to stop uncle Joe from coming to powerMadner Kami wrote:By accident you time-travel back into the 1880s, Russia, a town in what today is Georgia, it's name is Gori. 2. Killing in self-defence is not murder.
Murder is by definition an unjust killing. So a justified child murder, would be the unjust killing of a child for a good reason, which can only apply to season one Wesley. Anakin's murders in III are to eliminate potential threats to Sith power as part of a Faustian bargain, which is a reason but obviously not a good one.

Re: The Clone Wars: Rookies
You asked for the justified murder of a child. You didn't specify any moral boundries or implied a legal baseline beyond "killing is bad".
You are dodging the question posed. Feel free to insert any artifical limitations to the situation that only allows you to either let Stalin live or kill him then and there.GandALF wrote:1. In the 1880s there's likely a million different ways to stop uncle Joe from coming to power
Semantics. Killing someone is murder in my book. There are reasons that justify, even legally justify, a murder. Besides, as I proposed, the child-soldier doesn't know you are there. He is no immediate threat to you. What do you do?GandALF wrote:2. Killing in self-defence is not murder.

no but he is a an immediate threat to mine. He dies. Quickly and efficiently
And no it is not semantics because you can't redefine the definition of either word. You can hold an argument as to why killing for any reason is murder. But fundamentally the motive for taking human life defines a difference.

What the hell has this thread turned into?
Are you all reading these things before you post them?
F-ing "Justified Child Murder"?
There aren't even dead kids in this episode.
Digression into crazy town.
Collectively pull your heads out of your butts.

Don't any of you know the first rule of time travel?
Never try to change the future or you will unwittingly create the very future you were trying to avoid.
Besides there is no guarantee that Trotsky would not become every bit the monster Stalin was especially with no major political rival.
