The show Luke Cage has a pretty earnest depiction of police institution and the moral implications of their involvement in the community.

It’s not a show that is trying to convince people that cops are an evil institution. It does show the complication that arises from corruption, and also makes an appreciable effort to show the importance of them in spite of public indifference regarding them.

One of the main characters is a cop in the middle of it all that who learns a lot in the course of the 2.5 seasons she is portrayed.

The title character is not an active policeman himself, but does try to take them seriously.

That's good but it's just one show, even if it isn't as active, two years on, there is still a push do demonize or remove police from media. For example, parents are now constantly complaining about Chase from PAW Patrol, seemingly wanting their kids to become future cop killers.

I’m not really trying to provide you with optimism for what people think of cops. I’m more providing a show for consideration that depicts issues surrounding police institution and how the public perceives them. My intent throughout these threads has been to present such issues in a manner that shows how and why people might not trust cops.

I am also still on it because police officers saved my life, once, so, I feel like my very continued existence is being insulted by every leftist.
Why do you feel that you shouldn't? Is this a conscious thing or a habitual, reactive feeling that wells up in you? Regardless, both are good reasons to tune out the news if they are harming you like this.
I am also still on it because police officers saved my life, once, so, I feel like my very continued existence is being insulted by every leftist.
This is black and white thinking, though. Some police officers saved you. There are good police officers and law enforcement is a good and necessary thing in our society, but that doesn't mean you should be defending them wholesale.

If you then say, no, you can see that some are bad and others good and it's not black and white, then you need to face your reactions and deeper thinking about this as I feel you're not aware of what's going on inside of you. There's a contradiction here in you between your conscious positions and the rest of you.
And I realize there are contradictions in my conscious convictions and other parts of me and I try to reconcile them but I'm not sure I succeeded.

And my problem with most of the left still comes from my upbringing and my very nature, I was a perfect angel as a child to the point where I sometimes wondered why I wasn't a juvenile delinquent in my early teens.

And it was reinforced by my childhood shows and my parents who always talked about how much of a good person I am and my whole extended family are also paragons.

And the lessons leaned in my childhood continue to be reinforced by media I watch as an adult, like Doctor Who.

I can't really see any flaws, none that would contribute to social ills, anyway.

And I have never heard of police misconduct in my area, so, there must be police departments that are mostly or entirely non-corrupt. So, wile we should still reform policing, the true vitriol should be reserved for the thoroughly rotten departments.

An issue with simplifying everything as either good or bad is that you have no standard that determines what is good or bad. If you sit in a chair and complain about things on the internet, then you can't just be considered good. Also, having adverse symptoms from the thought of doing bad things doesn't make you a good person by default.

There is good, there is bad, and there is nothing. And you're essentially doing nothing while calling yourself a good person simply because you abstain from doing bad things. You are not a bad person, but you can't call yourself a good person by simply deciding what is bad and not doing that.
