Not really. It seems that a burst of those future guns could take them down. Just going by Aliens. Never counted how many rounds are in each burst. Could be between three to five. Three is standard today.
I got nothing to say here.

They get a lot less bulletproof as the movie goes on in every movie. Which could just be people learning where the vital spots are.

Granted I haven't watched Alien movies past the second one in years, but from what I remember, no one is making targeted shots at them. They just spray bullets at their direction.

I don't even recall one getting shot and managing to leave the area or keep going.

Then shrugging off bullets would imply their exoskeleton is near the durability of steel. Or they can survive the scrambling of their organs when being shot.

I may have to look it up, but I seem to recall that their organs can't withstand their own blood. I think it's from that scene in the fourth film where they escape their cage by killing one of their own letting its blood dissolve the floor.
I got nothing to say here.

Wait if their organs can't withstand the blood, how do they live?

OK I looked it up. In Alien Resurrection the organs stayed intact with the acid blood eating through the floor.

IIRC the first movie establishes that the alien's circulatory system is basically made out of Teflon.

I think you could do it like Godzilla 2013 where it's more of a disconnected look from a distant perspective.

My idea (I guess can build upon the original OP idea) is to have 3 different cities in Alaska or something. The first town gets ravished by the escape and infestation. The next town gets taken down but under a different circumstance. Then the next town either signifies the general meltdown of the tri county area on a systemic level or they learn from what happened in the other two towns in order to stop it.

It could be done with a lot of flashbacks and/or found footage etc.. Obviously the xenomorph isn't really portrayed necessarily as a good guy there, but you could put all types of shades of gray around it.
..What mirror universe?
