And as for racism, the wizarding world is many things but it isn't racist towards itself - its racist towards species and muggles. And I would say that this is due to their insular ''us vs them'' mentality and low numbers.
Concepts change. The modern idea of 'transgender' didn't exist in the 18th century, but human behaviors are far less variable than the cultural veneer we attach to them. The point is that a lot of behaviors that are accepted or at least tolerated now weren't at the time depicted. It's been a long time since wearing the clothing assigned to the opposite sex was considered worthy of the death penalty, for example.
The tension lies between making a setting moderns will feel comfortable with contrasted with depicting a plausible example of a period. Moderns aren't going to be very happy with most of the past.

The "bullying" is just people asking "please don't do this" and then streamers and rowling playing victim because not everyone agrees with them.
