Strange New Worlds

This forum is for discussing Chuck's videos as they are publicly released. And for bashing Neelix, but that's just repeating what I already said.

Iron wombs baby is what brought Khan into the picture. I am pretty sure that sort of tech most likely was outlaw on earth and they went back to naturual couple. Plus at some point you still need the material. how many artificial birth can happen before their a breakdown in the gene.

So just to recap. If a world has no STDs, easy contraception, children without pregnancy, a falling marriage rate, the end of the nuclear family. What is now the point of having a long term partner?
The same reasons people who don't want kids or can't have their own have been forming long term relationships forever. Mutual support, spending all your time with your favorite human, better sex, access to larger support networks via both extended families, raise children if applicable, etc.

You can get all of that by having a good friend. A... friend with benefits, if you will.

What's the distinction a really good friend you do all that with and a long term relationship in your thinking?

Legal unionizing. Basically a contract with binding obligations.

All of that is a provision that helps people commit to a family bearing relationship. If growing a family wasn’t involved, then there probably wouldn’t have been all this baggage and tax benefits associated with traditional marriage.

And as for Friends With Benefits, don't you think that it is actually incredibly likely the more we move away from traditional relationships and marriage in real life that we will have a free love future? In fact with Starfleet's medical tech combined with its post-scarcity society, it takes away the two obstacles that make causal sex a bad idea: STDs and limited access to contraception. The days of staying with one person your whole life and shackling yourself with a ring are already dying, my friend.
Free love has never about love; it is about lust. It is the desire to be free to let your life be driven by your sexual urges. Which is sub-human behavior, darling.

Autism is a mental disorder because it causes impairments in function. That is by definition, a disorder.

I'm kind of disturbed by how much toxic positivity there is in the mental health community. Autism and ADHD positivity is nothing compared to DID positivity i.e. "having multiple personalities is fine as long as they all get along." But I can't say it's surprising. One of the earliest online movements was "Pro-Ana" in which people who have eating disorders finally got to meet other people with eating disorders...and rather than trying to get better they encourage each other to get worse.

We are on the way to destruction; make your time.

You have a very... how can I put respectfully... 1950s Mormon view of sexuality. Yes, that'll do.

Autism is a spectrum that is comprised of many different things - not all of them bad and sometimes it is even advantageous. Your view of autism is simplistic and offensive. Read up on it.

I'm neuroatypical but my opinion is that "regular" behavior is often dishonest, selfish, and deeply troubling. One thing noticed is that when you ask 10 out of 10 people if they'd keep 1000 dollars they find, 9 out of 10 would say no to returning it if no one found out. Far less autistic people would.

"Different" is defined as a disorder.

Mind you, my experience is informed by the horrific medications I was subjected to in order to "cure" me as a child. Ones that deeply affected my creativity and interactions.
