Disney+ to double it’s prices.

They do that for financial liability reasons. It's never really been a secret.

Nielsen says that cable and satellite are on the decline. More and more people are opting to switch to less-profitable streaming services.

As the prices for streaming explode, this trend will slow

The key point here of course is that the people leaving TV are not going to paid streaming. They're going to Youtube, Tik Tok and Twitch.

I seriously doubt any of those are a replacement for television. I can hardly imagine anyone going, "Eh, I'm cutting the cord on TV. Let's watch Let's Plays instead." If anything, they're turning to piracy.

No, that's exactly what I've been doing for years now. I stopped watching TV and pull my entertainment purely from YouTube and Twitch, with a movie via Prime every now and then. TV doesn't offer anything that entertains me beyond pure background noise. YouTube and Twitch do.

That's me. Have been for a long time though. In my case, it was just to replace my giant DVD/Blu-ray collection with the ease of having it digital.

Which is why as of today I got: 756 GB of movies, 428 GM of documentaries, 3.11 TV of TV shows and 356 GB of assorted shows, movies and documentaries that are sitting in my folder to watch.

I also have 94 GB in assorted sports programming and recorded games.

This is also after losing my entire documentary folder that was much bigger than I got now due to a bullshit Toshiba backup drive that lasted two months.

Yes I am a menace to society.
I got nothing to say here.

Well, video essays for me. But, yes, that's where I'm at. If something comes out (Loki, My Adventures with Superman, Doctor Who), I'll grab that service for a month and watch it. I have Prime, but mostly for Twitch and free shipping.

I barely watch any TV at all. The internet has me for sure.

BTW, I'm of the opinion that Let's Plays have filled the exact same niche that football, baseball, basketball or any other sport that you want to name has in our collective consciousness. People sit there for hours watching football, they spend money on tickets to watch their favourite team, they spend money on merchandise, they proudly talk and debate and argue over the water cooler. Similarly people sit there for hours watching Twitch, they attend events, they spend money on merchandise, they donate in the chat, they proudly talk and debate and argue over the water cooler.

Times have changed. It is no longer socially unaccceptable to game or to watch other people play games. And the beauty of gaming is that you don't need to be physically fit to take part. You can be as fat, lazy and greedy as you like and still be a great player.

If anyone who watches a lot of video essays aren't on Nebula I recommend it. Cuts out a lot of the nonsense that people do to keep the YouTube algorithm from strangling their views and a lot of creators leave exclusives on there. If the people you watch are on it you've probably got a discount code already.
