So in the party scene I bumped into the leadership of Clouds but since Judy's quest hadn't triggered yet this playthrough my V had no idea who they are and it's driving me insane.

I'm also pretty sure there are entire branches of this adventure that I can't access because I didn't end up building a netrunner, which is annoying.

Well got to the new ending. Makes the Arisaka and suicide endings seem optimistic and cheerful.

I don't even think it's bad. However, I don't have the mindset being an Edgerunner or murderer for hire is something to aspire to. Given it's already cost V Jackie, T-Bug, Evelyn, and god knows how many other people, I'm inclined to think that they're just happy to live the quiet life as a analyst for the FIA.

You survived Night City V, get the fuck out and never look back.

Either that or hop on a plane and join Misty in the Białowieża Forest.

"A Quiet Life or a Blaze of Glory." They just finally let us choose the former, relatively speaking.

You have to sell Songbird into slavery and murder Jonny to get there. Not only sold your soul, you didn't even get a good price for it.

I think just the whole vibe of giving up and despair got to me more than anything. I can't see V as presented in the ending moving on and building a new life, just drinking themselves to death.

I know I'm bringing a lot of that with me because it hit a few personal buttons though, glad other people enjoyed it.

Unrelated to the ending I absolutely despise "hide from the instant-kill monster" horror games and that killed the whole Phantom Liberty questline for me. I was enjoying it and planning how to do different choices and explore different branches in future playthroughs but I don't think I'm ever going to touch it again.

Edit: from what I can find online only one branch actually has this.

Betraying Songbird to the FIA is a choice that loses a lot of the sting when you see her opening up on masses of innocents in the stadium (particularly if you've shopped around there multiple times and met its quirky band of merchants that all get massacred--including a child) as well as betrayed you.

To quote Kill Bill, "She deserves her revenge and we deserve to die--but so does she."

As for Johnny, if you've done "Chippin in" correct, Johnny gives you permission to kill him to save your life. Which I thought was a nice touch.

Also, the monster is following a set path. It has no AI so you can plan around that.

Yeah when she announced that plan is when I decided to side with Reed. I'll probably see it in a future playthrough, but not soon because there's still a bad taste in my mouth.

Killing Songbird I'm fine with. Killing all three of them would be even better, it's a power fantasy where you can respond to bad people with lethal force after all. Selling her into slavery crosses a line where it's not fun anymore and I just feel dirty.
