Like my first thought was American Princess. The daughter of the President. But I am pretty damned sure that was done already. Just can't place it. Mind you I don't watch those types of movies.

Warrior Amazon Princess came to mind before I instantly remembered that character is called Wonder Woman.

Thinking maybe a Victorian Disney Princess that grew up from the slums. But still trying to figure that one out without it being a Mulan copy or too Disney of old where she finds a prince and finds happiness or something. Nowadays, the princess has to find agency within herself and not because a man rescued her. Or you have to write an intelligent script to make that work.
Maybe something closer to Cinderella instead of Mulan? And maybe instead of the past put her in the future? How about a cyberpunk princess, that could be awesome!

The villain is a time traveler from the future. He has incredible advanced tech compared to the setting, but he bought it off the shelf doesn't actually know how it works and can't make more or fix it when it breaks.
Can't see Disney going for the polyamory part but I like the overall idea.
Honestly the more I think about it it's more of an edutainment show premise than a Disney princess. We're learning about gear ratios today, kids!
You could still make her some sort of Disney princess, and the direction could go there but could be a bit more action etc., just think there's a lot that's fun and interesting that you could do with the whole idea.
I'm not going to do anything with the idea beyond maybe a d&d character so if you want to play with it go wild.

Borrow from Erma and put out Warrior Unicorn Princess? A cross between My Little Pony and a very bloody Xena?
She's cute and uses rainbow colored gear, to spill the blood of those that threaten her friends and kingdom.

Blood red is just another color in the rainbow.

Chiming back in, why limit ourselves to imagining new characters? Why not try to reinvent older princesses and how their stories could be told today? And by that I mean, the Disney Princesses that failed to become official Disney Princesses most notably Asha.

Asha I find to be the most interesting because her film was suppose to be the film that celebrated Disney's 100th Anniversary, she had a good if not great film ready to go before it was changed into the forgettable mess we have now. I've mentioned the ideas that I would like to explore with this film with some alterations I would make to it, (along with a new idea that I'll be posting later) and you all shared some of your ideas which really highlights just how disappointing the actual film was.

One thing I find so interesting about the Disney Princess line is that it is, besides Mickey Mouse, the most successful franchise in the Disney Company. Technically speaking it's the longest running animated series of all time, getting it's start back in 1937 though I say technically because it wasn't made into a franchise until the 2000's though that was more Disney officially recognizing that it was a franchise because phrase was used as far back as Sleepy Beauty and become more common in the 90's.

As such it makes sense that Disney would have a film they would make to celebrate the 100th Anniversary would be another Disney Princess film... It just wasn't that good.

I feel that Disney will one day remake Wish with the original film to try in an attempt to retroactively fix the 100th Anniversary given how popular the unmade film has become and I wonder if Asha will then be included as part of the Disney Princess Line. The original Asha is a character who is every bit as worthy of stand along side the other Princesses and I feel would be great to include. Asha as she is doesn't and again, I find it very telling that in WDW that Disney is trying to pretend that Wish doesn't exist by hiding most if not all Wish merchandise.

You are probably right, but knowing Disney they'll probably try to remake it into live action instead of animated.

Honestly, in this case, I think they may end up not only doing an animated film but a 2D animated film, especially after The Boy and the Heron won Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards and British Academy Film Awards. As I've mentioned before I would love the film to be 2D WITH the Klas Lightning system from Klaus and the Texture system that was also used in Klaus. The reason Disney went with 3D instead of 2D as was the original plan for Wish was because they felt 3D looked better and allowed for better camera use since a major rule in 2D is DON'T Move the Camera.

However, the reason for that rule is because moving the camera around means needing to work with shadows and the Klas system can bypass that. I remember reading somewhere that while making Klaus they kept to the DMTC rule but that was mostly out of habit rather then anything else because they found it was easier to pull off more complex shots thanks to the lighting system they had invested.

The reason we haven't seen this system used more often after Klaus is thanks to COVID screwing everyone over but now that most companies are getting back on their feet (more or less) I think with the it's time to implant this style into more modern American films. People want something new which is why Painted CGI has become so popular and Klaus manages to blur the line between 2D and 3D that most don't realize that the is almost completely 2D.

Also 2d artists have a good union and 3d artists don't.

I went to see that film because I thought it would be my last chance to see a 2D film in theater, I wanted to see The Princess and The Frog in the theater but life kinda got in the way.

2D hasn't really disappeared, its just that its not getting much theatrical attention anymore. Although these days its drawn digitally with a computer to smooth out the motion and details.

I was thinking steam punk. Maybe a princess who has a lab that messes around with the latest tech of the day. Makes inventions.

Or she is poor but still has some lab.

Both times she is a girl and not messing around with such things, father will find her a good man. Blah blah.

Kinda hard honestly to do something original.
I got nothing to say here.
