I choose to believe Q died and is back because fuck continuity and resurrecting himself is a thing he'd do anyway.

Nah. The simplest explanation is the Q we saw in Season 3 is a younger version of the Q we saw in Season 2.

Though that would suggest that Q would run into himself every once in a while and I wouldn't put it past him to talk to himself.

The again it could be something more... Supernatural.
I got nothing to say here.

While I do hate what season 2 did to Q, I DID like the joke of Q seeing Picard, going 'oh you're old now' and making himself old to kinda mock Picard. Was a good way to handle that.

Unlike Guinan... which was just 'I'm old now cause I wanna pretend to be'. You guys can admit that her species ages in four cycles, infant, child, adult, and elderly, and Guinan is now at her elderly cycle and she tells Picard she's got maybe 50 to 60 years left, which ain't bad fo her cause she still feels '371.'
Science Fiction is a genre where anything can happen. Just make sure what happens is enjoyable for yourself and your audience.

That just makes too much sense.
