Re: What is something ya like from something you hate
Okay so here's one.
Eternals, MCU's worst film, lot bad... LOT BAD... but I really did like Gilgamesh. He felt like the one Eternal I actually cared for, and while I was sad he died, he at least died not being bodied by 'IT'S OVAH' Ikaris. Gilgamesh's actor put in a lot of effort, I heavily respect him and love to see him in Korean films, and he felt like a great strong man without going for Chris Hemsworth super jacked body. Plus... he legit was the best looking guy in the film.

Science Fiction is a genre where anything can happen. Just make sure what happens is enjoyable for yourself and your audience.

Dragon Ball Super. Hate is a strong word but I definitely don't like it because of how it was structured, Goku's personality, the out of nowhere power jumps (not even talking about Goku or Vegeta), Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue being useless etc.
I like Beerus and Whis. Beerus became the ever present threat/goal that both Goku and Vegeta would strive to surpass. It seems as strong as Goku and Vegeta get so does Beerus.
Now in the movie it is said that he hit about 70% of his power to combat Goku. Goku absorbing the SSG into his base form or part of it, then he went SSJ. SSJ is a 50x multiplier. Percentage points can only go so far. Goku by the time of fighting Golden Freiza should have at least equalled Beerus but of course not.
Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku should have surpassed Beerus but he didn't apparently. The manga does differ alot from the anime to be sure and the anime did end for some reason after the Tournament of Power.
But like I said, I don't like alot from the anime or manga for DBS, but having Beerus being this ever present goal to surpass is actually a new thing for Dragon Ball.
Think about it, in the original and Z, the goal was to defeat that saga's villain or opponent at that point. There was no one present at any point that was said to be even more powerful sitting at the side for the moment.
Saiyan Saga. It was Vegeta. Until we find about Freiza. Now it's about fighting his minions and then we obviously the endgame was Freiza for example. Rinse and repeat.
Beerus we get the first fight and then from there, he is just there. Goku and Vegeta being scared of him if they accidentally cross the line.

I got nothing to say here.

I quite like Super. A ton of it is flawed, and the very sensible move it to skip the two movie remakes to start with the first dimensional tournament arc that introduces Hit. You also have some incredibly awful stuff like the finale of the Goku Black arc.
But then you have the finale of the Tournament of Power, and that last episode contains one of the single best fight scenes you will ever see in any medium whatsoever. There's some amazing vidoes of crowds watching it in Mexico and rightly losing their minds at how dang hype it is.

I don't have a problem with them doing the movies as long as they added information that we needed in between the two movies. As in, let's see Vegeta and Goku attain Super Saiyan Blue (SSB). Perfect time. It's a series. Let's see their training for two episodes to see them do it. That's if you wanted to follow the movies exactly how they were.stryke wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 8:49 am I quite like Super. Me personally, I'd redo the Golden Freiza arc completely. Like Freiza revived much earlier and saw the battle against let's say Perfect Cell and Buu. Kept on training until he gained Golden Freiza form four months prior. Then you could have the same movie. He went in too early, didn't master that form. Didn't account for Goku or Vegeta gaining God level ki.
But anyway, I could definitely done with a different outcome with the Goku Black arc. I do like the the idea of using the containment thing within the series to contain the immortal Zamasu at least. Or when they were merged. IMO, it would have been fine to me. They do it, and then Beerus does his Hakai to the vessel once everything was done.
My other thing is Vegeta. We got his big speech in respecting Goku during his fight against Buu. Now we didn't get a revert to his old ways. But it's just going from that big speech to being Goku's true rival.
I can am absolutely get behind Goku and Vegeta being rivals. But you need to address that speech.
Gohan and Piccolo on the other hand. Horrible.
When it comes to Piccolo I have this idea that Piccolo isn't fully complete. He needs to unite with King Piccolo, not just Kami. He needs to bring back that inner darkness he had, bring back his 'father' to be complete to fully access his full powers. But during this process of let's say a mental meeting with himself, Nail, Kami and King Piccolo that even with their combined power they are still not a match for Vegeta or Goku.
Its where Nail comes in with his separate knowledge of Namek that suggests talking to the New Namek elder with his knowledge from gained from Guru to attain the level of Namek God. (Yes I know). Piccolo does. Gets his orange form and there you go. He is on the level of Goku and Vegeta again.
I got nothing to say here.
