Dragon Age: Veilguard launch trailer

I am genuinely curious why they didn't lead with this, it's the first bit of marketing I've seen for it that actually has me excited. It makes it seem like a Dragon Age story in a way the rest of the marketing didn't.

Although the one where Solas turns into a giant wolf to fight a god was also pretty metal.

Still looks like a Final Fantasy-, not a Dragon Age-game.

I'd say this is a much watch if you're considering it. Even if you ignore everying the guy says just the examples he uses to demonstrate how insipid the writing is should be enough to give you pause.

Then I thought Dragon Age died with 2 so yeah I'll totally admit to being biased.

From the reviews I've seen it really seems like it's an "either love it or hate it" thing.

Yeah but in this environment it's impossible to tell which reviews are genuine and which are getting wrapped up in the stupid Woke/Anti-Woke argument. Most mainstream review sites like IGN and others are giving the game massively positive reviews but looking at the comment section and likes/dislikes numbers tells a different story but that story is "I'm already primed to hate this game because it has LGBT characters and I hate that they are existing in front of me."

I've heard rumors that sites like metacritic will be implementing a new review code system for users reviews in which on the receipt for the game there will be a code that must be entered into Metacritic as proof that, at the very least, you purchased the game.

This code can be used only once so even if you have several accounts you cannot review it several times. The only way to do so would be to purchase the game again either by buying another copy or by returning it and buying it again.

The idea behind this is that most of the people who are reviewing bombing don't actually play the game their complaining about which, as I said, makes it harder to tell which reviews are genuine and which aren't. So this will provide a way to prevent bad faith reviews because if you're not going to buy it then you're not going to review it.

Gotta say this is actually a pretty smart idea, because A) As I mentioned, this is a good way to cutout bad faith reviews because even if you did buy it but didn't play it and are just doing so to give a bad review you can't review most then once on each site.

And B) It forces people who want to reviewing to actually buy it. Meaning that bigots will have to support something they hate (which will increase the game's sells) or most of the people going to buy it are the ones who just wanted to buy it and play it in the first place. Win Win!

The video Stryke posted seems genuine. Most of it sounds like my opinion of Inquisition, honestly.

Yeah, that can't be abused at all whatsoever never ever totally... Not like the Publisher could exclusively fake reviews that way...

You're not wrong but game companies can already cheat without said system. I see this as being more fair and honest.
Science Fiction is a genre where anything can happen. Just make sure what happens is enjoyable for yourself and your audience.

No argument there, this isn't foolproof or anything, not to mention the fact that if someone wants to review but can't because they were borrowing it from a friend and they're unable to give their thoughts because said friend already used the game.

But right now the more common issue is bad reviews that are being made by people that have often openly admitted to not actually playing the game so review scores are now unreliable. This idea has the potential to avoid that because according to the rumor it HAS be bought from gamestop, Best Buy or Amazon but as you said this still can be abused by Publishers trying to make the game look better then it really is.

So basically the chooses are allow people who are giving bad reviews because of their bigoted reviews which makes people with legitimate criticisms harder to find or allow companies to buy out their own games to give positive feedback that are just as fake.

So the question is, how to deal with bad faith reviews?

One thing I am already annoyed by without having played it: they kept the dialogue wheel with the tone symbols instead of just letting you know what the actual dialog options are. It was a failed experiment that had outstayed its welcome when Andromeda did it and it's even more of an anachronism now.
