I'm of the opinion that the MCU is still overall enjoyable. Have there been some films and or shows that haven't lived up to the standards of what came before? Yes, but what a lot of people forget is that the MCU has never had a perfect track record of absolute success. Phase 2 was wildly regarded as a step down in quality with many claiming that the first Phase was lightning in a bottle that Marvel would never be able to recapture. This was followed by Phase 3 which was an overall success and seen by many, myself included, as the best Phase of the series.
And one thing a lot of people forget is that the current saga aka the Multiverse Saga has overall been pretty good. I would dare say that many shows and or films have been as good as anything we got from Phase 1 or Phase 3 and personally I think a lot of the criticism here is overblown and some of it seems to be about people hating on the series more as a result of it becoming so popular. That's more of a personal observation so take it with a grain of salt.
But regardless I do want to quick go over a list of films or shows from this part of the series that are honestly a lot of fun.
So, real quick here's my list.
WandaVision - I honestly really enjoyed this show and felt that it was a pretty good start to the Phase 4. It was a great look into Wanda's mind and the trauma she has endured from everything that's happened to her over the course of the series.
Eternals - This film is overhated, it's really not as bad as some make it out to be IMO. It's honestly a nice change of pace as it takes itself more seriously then other films and I personally love the ending to it.
Hawkeye - LOVE IT! Really fun, love Kate, love Clint, love the puppy, enjoyed the action. Kingpin was kinda eh but not to bad. And Alaqua Cox is fantastic and deserves so much more praise for her frankly amazing performance.
Spider-Man: No Way Home - Personally I think this is the best live-action Spider-Man film and as I mentioned before, I like the ending to it.
Ms. Marvel - I honestly really liked this show though I personally feel that Kamala's supporting cast didn't get as much focus as I would have liked.
Werewolf by Night - This film needs a lot more attention as it's again a nice break from the usual Marvel Formula with it being more of a send up to classic horror movies. And the Werewolf transformation is great. I love that we don't see anything and it's the implication of what's happening that makes it unsettling.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - Honestly I like this film more then the first BP film. It has a lot of great moments and Shuri's arc is an interesting one though personally I do think that killing of T'Challa was a mistake as it feels like a waste of a perfectly good character. Still I get it and Chadwick Boseman is impossible to replace. RIP.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 - A heartbreaking but powerful ending to James Gunn's Trilogy. Though it is hard to sit through at times because of how much pain Rocket goes through.
The Marvels - This film is seriously overhated. Like I've seen so many people call it one of the worst films ever and... Really? Sure it leans a little to much into the comedy but I can't think of anything overly wrong with it and every review I see, IMO, exaggerates or outright makes up issue the film doesn't actually have or says objective opinions and irrefutable facts and I'm pretty sure that most of these people didn't even see the film. I liked the action, the characters were all likable and I personally liked the comedy. That's just my opinion but at least I actually saw the film to have one.
Deadpool & Wolverine - Yeah like I need to go into detail on this. One, it's funny, it's heartfelt, the chemistry between the two leads is fantastic and is just a lot of fun. Though I will say I find it funny that many said that this film single-handedly has save the MCU only to then say that the MCU's success was riding on the new Captain America film. Make up your minds is the MCU saved or not?
I've heard good things about Loki, Falcon and the Winter Solider and What If but I haven't had much of a chance to watch everything and looking it over I can only think of two projects that just... not great. She-Hulk and Thor: Love and Thunder and I only really saw one of these.
The other films and movies I've heard overall positive things about so I don't get where all this hate is coming from. Again a good chunk of this feels like people are criticizing the series because it's gotten so popular and people are judging it based more on that feeling rather then the actual quality of the work.

I mean, I do wonder how much of the films going down involves the movies being on dinsey plus so quickly.

No Way Home was definitely the most appreciable effort, but it is just so far into quasi MCU territory. I almost came in here to just say Venom as a joke.
Falcon and Winter Soldier because it is my best experience in general with a mini-series. I thought it blended big screen and small screen perfectly, though I'm not surprised how pedestrian it comes off in the grand scheme of things.

It's possible. Subscriber models kinda emulated movie ticket sales and they put a lot of effort into both in equal parts.Thebestoftherest wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2025 2:20 pm I mean, I do wonder how much of the films going down involves the movies being on dinsey plus so quickly.
I'm of the mind that the theaters started to decline around the turn of the 2010's, which is partly why streaming was embraced so much.
A world on fire.

I actually liked Shang Chi. The side kick chick was annoying at times. But overall I liked it.
Eternals is another one I liked. I felt all of the Eternal characters were well defined enough to keep along. Compare that with The Hobbit and the dwarves. I never truly got a grasp on who is who in that trilogy.

I got nothing to say here.

Episode six and episode seven of Agatha All Along are genuinely excellent episodes of telly. Not just for the MCU but television in general.
Other than that No Way Home was pretty good, that one car chase action scene in Hawkeye and some other selected moments, Wandavision if I can ignore that bloody last episode, any time Carl Lumby was on screen in Falcon and Winter Soldier who really elevated the material, and like ninety minutes of Gaurdians vol 3. Good film as is but with a serious edit it could have been amazing.

The only films I've liked since Endgame are the one's attached to Sony or Fox projects. The film that came closest was Guardians 3.
If you still like the MCU then great. I personally am apathetic to it now.

So apathetic you post on a thread all about the MCU for no reason?clearspira wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2025 9:59 am The only films I've liked since Endgame are the one's attached to Sony or Fox projects. The film that came closest was Guardians 3.

I was answering the question. The only good MCU since Endgame besides Guardians 3 started life as a Sony or Fox product and the declining sales figures that only ever perk up for these movies absolutely back me up. Spider-Man and Wolverine V Deadpool are not pure MCU. I'm afraid that I have the general public opinion on this one.Thebestoftherest wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 1:48 amSo apathetic you post on a thread all about the MCU for no reason?clearspira wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2025 9:59 am The only films I've liked since Endgame are the one's attached to Sony or Fox projects. The MCU only has nostalgia left to it now. Why do you think they are bringing back Rob Jr?
