Did any significant publication call Trek Discovery right wing yet?
I mean, if you want to make a case it would not be hard.

Yes, it would be quite hard, they've been admirably restrained in political commentary.
I suppose that since Burnham's speech at the end was all about preserving the traditions of the federation she could be interpreted as a Burkean conservative, but that's still quite a stretch.

The only things politically related to Discovery are how "sjw commulists will ruin our scifi", so I doubt anyone's even looking for a vast right wing conspiracy. You'd never get the twitter bots to promote the idea anyway because their fanbase would bluescreen at the idea of siding with the show.

Well if you want confusing political statements you have "Make the Empire glorious again."
Which is apparently on a T-shirt. http://www.cbsstore.com/star-trek-disco ... y_featured
It's an obvious dig at Trump's election slogan... except that Lorca was the best character in Discovery and the mirror universe episodes were the most fun. So we have "Rooting for the Empire" here? Or is it ironic hipster T-shirt time.
These are the questions that vex me.

Whoever did this has jack to do with writing or shooting the show.Fixer wrote:Well if you want confusing political statements you have "Make the Empire glorious again."

Putting that statement inside the show means that someone definitely wrote it. Plus the statement from the staff that Klingons are actually an analogy for Trump supporters.Agent Vinod wrote:Whoever did this has jack to do with writing or shooting the show.

Then there's former Trek actors endorsing the "Trek against Trump" group.
Which I guess means that Discovery's solution to the Trump administration would be to assassinate Trump, then give Mike Pence an iPad connected to a bomb that can blow up America.
Somehow I think they got a bit lost in their analogy.
Really though Vinod, the post you made was that it would be easy to argue that Discovery was right wing. If that's the case, make a point. Otherwise I'm really just going to consider this a troll thread, lock it, and give you a warning.

The thread topic is silly, but a lock and a warning? Why? WTF rules did he break?
This seems incredibly, needlessly heavy-handed.

As I haven't handed out any warnings yet.Durandal_1707 wrote:The thread topic is silly, but a lock and a warning? Why? WTF rules did he break?

If someone's going to post a thread with a question which I believe to be in bad faith, then just demand sources and contradict everyone that answers. I'm going to consider this a troll post which doesn't have any discussion value and firmly comes under the "just don't be an asshole" section of the board rules.

As asshole? For asking an (admittedly silly) question, and disagreeing with people who answered it? His tone doesn't appear antagonistic. His replies are short and terse, but doing a quick search of his posts, that seems to be his general style. He may not be a native English speaker (one of the posts my quick search turned up talked about Hungary).
Of course he's asking for sources, his whole question is a request for sources ("Did any significant publication..."). I'm pretty sure the answer is "no", but I'm not sure why he's an asshole for asking it.
