Post by Fuzzy Necromancer »

The CEO of GoFundMe has confirmed that a third of all GoFundMe campaigns are to pay medical bills, making it one of the largest insurers in the country.

What's that? Private charity can be a legitimate alternative to universal insurance or public health service? Who would have guessed?

I'm going to stun Fuzzy and agree with him that relying on public charity to extortionate health care bills is something the US should be ashamed of.

I'd love to do something to drive prices down, so people wouldn't need insurance except for the most drastic things.

The fact that life and death have become a popularity contest for poor people (and some middle-class people) is both terrifying and a disgrace to this country.

People, this is a BAD thing. This isn't "private charity Capitalistically Replaces Big Guvmint", this is next-level BS comparable to "The Running Man", where literal children's lives depend on their parents' ability to get social-media attention and how many rich friends they have.

When did we as a country stop caring about human life?
