I am aware. This is a lot what fueled the crime wave until very recently...after all, running a militia ain't cheap, and the occasional ransom can go a long way towards controlling expenses.Worffan101 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 31, 2018 9:33 pmColombia has had a low-grade civil war between the government, fascist and right-wing paras, and communist rebels for more than half a century, and they just ended most of the conflict this past year.
Kind of. The numbers I can find on the issue (and it's always hard to get good numbers on illegal activity) suggest that while immigration from Mexico has fallen, it's still the biggest boy on the block by a goodly margin. In the most extreme estimates, Mexico no longer accounts for a majority of illegal immigrants, but it's still pretty close to every other nation combined. Given that we get illegal immigrants from all over the world, it's hard to see how a majority could be coming from Central America. (excluding Mexico)Most undocumented immigrants these days are from Central America, since the Mexicans have basically sent us everybody who wanted to come to the USA already ...
But these numbers are always in flux, and I'm sure Trump has only added to that.
