If the President is found guilty and manages to sidestep all criminal liability by stating the President cannot be held accountable. Then we should move to remove him by force. Because he will have effectively crowned himself emperor of the republic. But I fear no one will really lift a finger to try. And if anyone does? That person will be branded insane, a terrorist, and a traitor.
What I think will happen instead of the potential match in a room full of explosives. Is they will discredit enough of the evidence to drop the whole thing so guilt or innocence is never legally a question.

See I am not sure he is as stupid as it is presented. He did sway enough of the vote to get elected. And despite cries of foul all over the place to what he does. He is staying in office.Worffan101 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 5:47 amNah, only paranoid people think he's a genius.
The man lost money on a fucking casino. FOUR. TIMES. I'm frankly surprised that he can breathe without fatally injuring himself.
So can there be a different reason for his apparent odd behaviour besides lower intelligence?

It's surprisingly hard to remove even a deeply unpopular sitting POTUS. Not even Andrew Johnson got thrown out, and technically Nixon resigned rather than get thrown out for truly historic levels of authoritarian ratfucking.Nealithi wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 12:57 pmSee I am not sure he is as stupid as it is presented. Let me put this another way; running a casino is literally the easiest way to make money there is. And Trump was bankrupted FOUR TIMES running casinos with his name on them. He tried to sell overly tough steaks from the freaking Sharper Image. I can't think of anything more indicative of dangerously low intelligence than that the man tried to sell shitty steaks from the Sharper Image, and bankrupted four straight casinos.

Process and institutional roles.
This is nothing compared to the stuff that went on before ww2.
People were beating the shit out of each other in the Congress and the Senate.
The processes and institutions stayed.

With two new casinos, it hopes for revival as a millennial playground. But survival depends on shows, spas and clubs, not chips and cards."

You don't know what you're talking about and it shows. EVERY Casino in Atlantic City is doing poorly. Even Los Vegas had to diversify.

Studies of Trump voters have been clear that they are low-empathy people whose driving concern is not economic uncertainty but rather 'cultural anxiety.' In the eyes of Trumpists, America has changed in blasphemous ways and people they consider to be abominations are in positions they see as unacceptable. The objective of Trumpism is not to restore jobs but rather to restore Trumpist cultural honor by winding back the clock of history, to undo at least the last decade of change if not more.clearspira wrote: ↑Fri Sep 07, 2018 7:16 pm ...if the Democrats do not address the main concerns of his base, namely the loss of jobs due to globalization and the influx of undocumented migrants, then he is still in bloody good standing for the next election. And no, we are LONG past the days when trying to shut down such debate with ''you're a racist'' still works.
Calling these people racists doesn't stop them because they are racists and are openly proud of it.
The answers Trumpists seek for their main concerns are illiberal and antidemocratic. What Trumpists want is an authoritarian rural white ethnostate that does not extend political rights to white Democrats/liberals and actively persecutes non-hetrosexuals and non-whites. There is no way to address the goals of Trumpists without giving up principles, such as the principle universal suffrage, or the principle of not putting children in concentration camps, that are so fundamental to liberal democracy that no compromise is feasible or desirable. Should the Democrats seek to address the concerns of Trumpists on their terms, the only outcome would be to convert the ongoing demolition of American democracy from an exclusively Republican project to a bipartisan one.
Trump will be reelected because his style of ethnonationalist government is what the majority of people who live in the states that count in the electoral college, want. They want someone hates the same people they do, and that is what they will get.

As I say, I'm a Brit so I make no claim to be an expert. The workings of studies and statistics are universal concepts no matter where you go in the world however and I would be greatly interested to know the source of the studies that are making these claims. Until then I am not willing to accept these findings as gospel. And as for your more extreme claims that you go into, again, give me evidence. Because that simply is not what I have seen and heard from the countless interviews with Trump supporters that I have seen, but if you can prove differently, I am happy to hear it.Cassandra wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 10:23 pmStudies of Trump voters have been clear that they are low-empathy people whose driving concern is not economic uncertainty but rather 'cultural anxiety.' Trump received over 62 million votes. How many of these are openly proud racists in your opinion? All of them? Half? Because I refuse to believe that there are 62 million racists in America, just as I refuse to believe that there are 62 million sexists who voted based solely on genitals, and 62 million homophobes that hate gays. America is one of the freest and most tolerant places in the world and I invite you to go and live just about anywhere east or south of Europe if you doubt that.

Oh, you don't have to go that far (and, side note, America is NOT the freest or most tolerant place in the world by a long shot, we're just as racist and xenophobic as you Europeans if not more so, only in somewhat different ways). Didn't your country vote to leave the EU because people didn't take an election seriously and Boris Johnson helped run an openly racist campaign of hate and xenophobia? And France keeps trying to regulate clothing choice of all things. And Geert Wilders is Dutch, unless he decided to move to Russia and take advantage of Putin's deal for rich assholes while I type this comment. Europe has MORE than enough unfree regimes (Hungary, Belarus, Russia), intolerant regimes (Hungary, Belarus, Russia, France, Britain, Spain, Italy, Greece, Serbia, etc.), and authoritarian-wannabe nationalist regimes (Belarus, Russia, Poland, Hungary, Serbia, I think I've made my point) to shame any continent--only Asia is really WORSE considering their historical position and the inevitable legacy of shitty colonial rule that's still affecting Africa, but that's only because Asia has the triple whammy of the DPRK, Bhutan, and China, with half of Russia as dessert.clearspira wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 11:05 pm

My country elected an orange tumor because a big chunk of the Democratic base got lazy and complacent and the Republicans spent literally 25 straight years pumping out nonstop propaganda on Fox News spreading flat-out lies about Hillary Clinton (and don't even get me STARTED on the nonsense 4chan started spreading for free). There's 62 million people who would rather vote for the most openly racist Presidential candidate since RICHARD NIXON than for Hillary Clinton because Fox News told them that Hillary Clinton was a traitor about to keel over dead and the Internet told them that she was fucking babies in a nonexistent pizza restaurant basement for a Satanic orgy.
40% of likely voters will support Trump to the hilt because they watch Fox News and Fox News only, and Fox News is basically Pravda for right-wing xenophobes scared of the brown people moving into their neighborhood. That's how bad things are here.
Also, given how flawed most countries are, I'd honestly say that the best country on the planet is Finland, and even THEY have right-wing populists and neo-Nazis marching in the streets and spewing absurdly stupid hate on the airwaves.
